To have been woven into so many people’s happiest memories, decade after decade, is an extraordinary privilege — quite simply, bliss. ✨

More than two hundred weddings, anniversaries and milestone birthdays have unfolded beneath the palms and stars of Jnane Tamsna: love stories beginning, candlelit dinners glowing into the night, champagne catching the light, music drifting through the gardens, wild dancing, long lunches and laughter that lingers long after midnight.

There is something wonderfully Marrakech about it all — a little bohemian, a little glamorous, entirely sensual.

Perhaps that is the secret of Jnane Tamsna:
an alchemy of gardens, architecture, art, beautiful people and celebration — where Parisian elegance meets Moroccan magic, and every gathering seems to acquire a life of its own.

For decades, we have not simply hosted parties.

People often ask us what makes Jnane Tamsna so different.

A very natural way of life unfolds in a place conceived by creative people who actually live there. The hotel lives as we like to live: connected to nature, to the gardens, and to the quiet rhythm of the seasons.

Every day, vegetables, herbs and fruit are picked from the garden before they reach the table.

Books have always been an essential part of our lives. It felt natural to invite writers into our home and create literary salons around some of the world’s most remarkable storytellers.

From a Nobel laureate to Booker Prize winners, from Pulitzer Prize recipients to a Prix Goncourt author, the walls of Jnane Tamsna resonate with extraordinary literary voices and unforgettable conversations.

In love with Morocco: its history, its culture, its architecture and its extraordinary craftsmanship, we embrace a Moroccan style, while mingling it with our own stories and cultural heritage.
Arches, old doors, perspectives, fountain and courtyards belong to Morocco.

Books, antiques, family photographs, rugs, paintings and objects tell our own story. Standardization, uniformity and matching are words from a language we never learned.

Music is also part of our life. Our baby grand piano has witnessed evenings with extraordinary musicians.

In the interiors, there is not one thing I did not choose, designed or curated. Every tree, every shrub and every flower have been planted by my husband.

People sometimes tell us that the gardens look as though they simply grew by themselves. Even that feeling of abundance and freedom has been carefully composed. Nature, too, is an art.

None of this should come as a surprise. Our children descend from grandparents who challenged the conventions of their time—on one side, a Catholic and a Muslim who chose to marry; on the other, a Protestant and a Catholic who did the same. One grand-mother traces her genealogy to the second boat after the Mayflower, and the other to a freed enslaved man. We all carry several passports, several cultures and several histories.

How could we ever think inside the box?
Jnane Tamsna is simply the expression of who we are.

When I look back on it, it was probably a world record: building a hotel from scratch in just eleven months and three weeks. It was also, without doubt, the beginning of my white hair.
Such a pace was only possible because I design every aspect of the project myself. I was able to work night and day, moving seamlessly from architecture to interiors: sketching arches and perspectives, mixing textiles to create bespoke curtains, curating centuries-old doors for restoration, designing furniture and lamps, and obsessing over every detail in between.
It was also only possible because it happened in Morocco. There are few places in the world where one can work with craftsmen of such extraordinary skill, generosity, and adaptability. When all the stars align, collaborating with them is pure bliss.
In a moment of optimism—or perhaps complete madness—I accepted our very first guests before starting to build Jnane Tamsna, without quite knowing what challenge lay ahead. As opening day approached, hurdles seemed to multiply by the hour. Every problem that could arise appeared determined to do so.
Yet somehow, we made it. More importantly, despite the inevitable imperfections of those first days, we remained on the very best of terms with that family. Looking back, I realize that their generosity and understanding became as much a part of our story as our determination to deliver what we had promised.

Conceived by @meryanneinspired , we are delighted to launch Museum Dinners—a monthly pop-up experience beginning this September, where every element, from the table setting to the cuisine, becomes a work of art.

For this inaugural edition, we are honored to present a remarkable selection of antique jewelry from Oman, Algeria, Yemen, Morocco, Turkmenistan, and Pakistan, generously lent by Le Monde des Arts de la Parure, Marrakech’s captivating museum devoted to the arts of adornment @lemapmarrakech

The exquisite trompe-l’œil menu was imagined and prepared by @thesoulspoonbylaetitia transforming each course into a delightful visual surprise.

From the music you will hear to the rare objects and ancestral vegetables grown from heritage seeds you will see, to the imaginative cuisine you will taste, our Museum Dinners are an exploration of the senses and cultures. Inspired by our gardens, collections and travels.
