He's the gayest music director around, it's Ethan Vasquez Taylor!

Ethan is a performer, music director, educator and composer born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He has been fortunate to work across the country on countless stages in both Theatre and Chamber Music, and is delighted to be back at ATP for the Holidays. A proud member of the Latino and queer community, Ethan strives to represent them both in all his onstage work. COME FROM AWAY - @theatrecalgary 2026

A dream come true, that’s what this show was. During “The Prayer” every single show, I would just let myself be Ethan, I’d look around and admire the lights and the set, I’d walk downstage and take in the seats and just think “I did it, I am here” and I’d sing my little heart out. And then I’d cap it off with a candle cheers with @markbellamy14 who’s been someone I’ve looked up to my entire career, and now I get to call my friend.

Getting to make my TC debut after all these years was something I’ll never take for granted, especially with this show. I have so many little connections to Come From Away and it felt like such a full circle moment to perform it on the Maxbell every single night.

Thank you to our amazing leader @jesserobbchoreography , you were right. Thank you for trusting me with this role, and for taking a chance on a young actor who was so desperately trying to get his foot in the door. I can’t properly express how appreciative I am of this entire experience.

To my entire cast and crew and team, our little community, our village, is something I’ll hold with me for such a long long time. I’ve been so lucky to make so many amazing friends, and I know these friendships will stay with me for a long time.

Thank you to every single person who was a part of this journey, I adore you all so much. Till next time. Your Sexy-tary.

06.13.26 What a great show! Huge congratulations to the cast, creative team and crew of Come From Away @theatrecalgary for such a beautiful production. This musical has been on my bucket list for so long, and it completely lived up to the hype. It’s full of heart, humour, great music, unexpected friendships and so many moments of kindness that really stick with you. It’s emotional, inspiring, and uplifting all at the same time. I laughed, smiled, and definitely felt all the feels throughout the show. More than anything, Come from Away reminds us that even in difficult times, kindness, generosity, and human connection can bring people together. Such a wonderful and memorable theatre experience. 💖✨

What a beautiful evening celebrating Calgary’s incredible theatre community at last night’s Betty Mitchell Awards @bettymitchellawards 🔥🔥🔥

A huge congratulations to Eric Wigston on winning Outstanding Performance in a Drama for his unforgettable portrayal of Botticelli in Botticelli in the Fire.

Eric’s performance was poignant, deeply moving, and utterly captivating - one that will stay with us for a long time. We couldn’t be prouder of him, and of the entire cast and creative team. It was an honour to collaborate with Downstage on this extraordinary production and to help bring such an important story to the stage. @downstageyyc

Stories like this matter. We need more queer theatre in our city - stories that challenge, celebrate, and reflect the richness of our community. We hope this recognition is just the beginning, and that audiences will continue to embrace and champion this vital work.
