We’ve been trying to find the right words to say recently about sweet Loretta. Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to someone who became such a special part of our Bingo family. Loretta came to every Bingo. One day, she told us it was her favorite day of the month — something she looked forward to every single month. What she may not have realized was how much we looked forward to seeing her, too. We’ll never forget the homemade cookies she would bring us — truly some of the best we’ve ever tasted. We’ll never forget the day she called a false Bingo and, without missing a beat, did the Chicken Dance in front of a room of 180 people cheering her on. And we will always be grateful that we got to celebrate her 99th birthday with her. Think about what 99 years means. Loretta lived through the Great Depression and World War II. She saw television enter American homes, humans walk on the moon, the birth of the internet and smartphones transform the way we live. She witnessed the civil rights movement, Stonewall, the AIDS crisis, marriage equality and generations of LGBTQ+ people fighting to live and love openly. And through it all, Loretta chose love. She loved her gay son and his husband fiercely, and she embraced and supported our LGBTQ+ community with that same open heart. She was a champion for us simply by showing up, loving her family and reminding everyone around her that acceptance can be one of the most powerful gifts we give another person. We will miss her smile, her cookies, her laughter and seeing her walk through those doors every month. But mostly, we’ll miss Loretta. We are grateful for every Bingo, every hug, every laugh and every cookie. And we are especially grateful that she raised a son who grew up to become such a stellar and beloved member of our community. What a beautiful legacy to leave behind. Rest peacefully, sweet Loretta. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for cheering us on. And thank you for giving us so many memories that will continue to make us smile through the tears. The world needs more Lorettas ❤️

When a group does so much good for our community, sometimes it’s nice to give back to THEM! ❤️ The Palm Springs Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence have spent years giving back, raising money and supporting organizations and causes throughout the Coachella Valley. So for our latest Charity Bingo, we decided to turn the tables and raise some money to support the Sisters and the good work they continue to do! And WOW — you showed up! 🙌 Our Charity Bingo with the fabulous Ethylina Canne was SOLD OUT, and we had an absolute blast while raising $1,315 for the Sisters, and almost $300 for The Roost Foundation. A HUGE thank you to the Plaza Theatre for providing some amazing prizes and to Martin Ray Vineyards for generously providing wine prizes for our winners! 🍷🎭 Your support helped make the night even more special. Thank you to everyone who came out, played, laughed, donated and helped us give back to an organization that gives so much to others. And, of course, thank you to Ethylina Canne for keeping the laughs coming all night long! Community supporting community — that’s what it’s all about. 🫶🏳️‍🌈 And the next time someone feels the need to shame a drag queen, maybe take a look at the work they’re doing in their community first. They’re raising money, supporting nonprofits, showing up for people in need and using their platform to make a difference. Instead of judging someone for how they dress, maybe ask yourself: What am I doing to make my community a better place? #drag #gedmag #lgbtq #charity

OKAY! This past Bingo at The Roost Lounge was it! Ethylina Canne gave away 2, yes 2 trips to Puerto Vallarta. We, GED MAGAZINE gave away all of Ethylina’s favorite things! We raised a whopping $1,800 for the Palm Springs Cultural Center to help with their fire damages. We were thrilled to have Michael C Green in attendance to talk about how much the community has stepped in to help. And the topper of it all, to have the City of Cathedral City, CA - City Government present Ethylina with a proclamation announcing July 12 Ethylina Canne Day! Ethylina was also gifted a banner which will hang on East Palm Canyon Dr for the year. It was a win win day for everyone! Thank you to everyone who attended and made the day so special! To Art Gregoire, Terry & Loretta, thank you for all the yummy treats! And Eric Antuna, thanks for the cupcakes! And a huge thank you to David Reese & NBC Palm Springs for being there to capture and share the day! And thank for the beautiful videos!!!
