THANK YOU SF!!! 4.5 incredible years of loving, feeding, wine-ing & dining, designing, building, iterating, evolving. You taught us what community really REALLY means, not just as a thing brands scheme to cultivate but as naturally occurring pockets of people coming together over good food and shared abundance energy that show up week after week!!! How lucky we’ve been!!

Saturday was one of the best days of our lives, despite it being a goodbye. We saw the culmination of all the people that make Shuggie’s the dining iconoclast & love club it is. I hope everyone at least once in their lives gets to feel the radiant joy we’re carrying with us right now, because it is like nothing in this world.

Thank you thank you.

Now time for a rest 🏝️ And then we begin again

@shotbysel Ty for the insane photos!!!!! 🧡🧡🧡

ETTA
A love letter to al fuego de mi corazon
there are not many words i can say about this human that will do them justice. i’ve never met someone like them. i just want the world to know that LOVE is real. that true good old timey raw love exists. kinship exists. etta has a golden heart, etta IS a golden heart! i didn’t know love could find me in my darkest and most vulnerable hours, but it did through this being. here is an ancient being, that has remembered what most have forgotten. That love prevails. That we need each other and that need is not a weakness. Etta gives so much, so so much to this world! an ever giving, ever deepening, ever standing rock in the river of life. showing humans how to really be human. standing ground, sharing love, sharing smiles, sharing hugs, sharing food, sharing marigold magic and ancestral wisdom, sharing songs that enrich the moment…a wild compassionate heart that gives the gift of BEING so comfortably and completely. what an honor to know etta, my gratitude wells up for this one right here, i couldn’t have done this lifetime without you♥

EARTHCOUNCIL commences 🌱⋆˚༄

This sweet being, @ettamiamor and I are starting a book club in the deepest reverence for visionary Black sci-fi author Octavia E. Butler. In the midst of the ever-changing landscape of human culture, one thing has remained untouched: black women have always known what the fuck is up. period. And Octavia Butler’s book Parable of the Sower is an uncanny, prophetic account of the exact times we find ourselves in.

Etta and I have fiery hearts and an even more fiery yearning to connect with other hearts who question the process of regeneration & emergence out of these corrupted times. How do we rage on given such loss? What keeps our Spirit alive? The good news is our pioneering ancestors did not do us dirty. Like Octavia, they have laid blueprints in their books, poems, and art, endeavoring to answer our pressing questions. Our hope with EARTHCOUNCIL Book Club is to have juicy & healing discussions regrading social and environmental justice, as they are truly inseparable. The voice of the Black woman IS the voice of the Earth. It is not a metaphor.

Given this and the content of the book, we will hold strong intentions around amplifying the truths and wisdom of our bipoc & queer kin in this container. So do come with your big questions and big emotions. We welcome and have space for all of it. We meet this Thursday to read the foreword together. ❤️‍🔥
