POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Today we honour Mayor Paweł Adamowicz’ memory by awarding “Associazione per l’Ambasciata della Democrazia Locale a Zavidovici” @adlzavidovici with the 2024 #AdamowiczAward.

Founded more than 25 years ago, this initiative demonstrates unwavering dedication to human rights, collaborating with municipalities to leave no one behind. The association has been active in offering aid to asylum seekers and refugees and providing solutions for them.

We also want to give a special recognition to Alla Myronova, Mayor of Inhulka in Ukraine, in tribute to her unwavering courage and as a symbol of profound solidarity for all Ukrainian Mayors currently in occupied territories.

Their actions and courage embody the spirit of Mayor Adamowicz and are an example for us all!

Have you listened to our new podcast 🎧 Regio Waves already?

Here is a little sneak peek from our first guest, Director General for Regional and Urban Policy at the European Commission:

🔊 “The European Union is a construct which can only stay together if it is animated by solidarity, and cohesion policy is the most tangible expression of that solidarity between the European Member States and its citizens.”

Tell us in the comments 💭 what is, to you, the best way to demonstrate solidarity.

some good, green news for your weekend!🌳🌱🪴 - the city of Paris 🇫🇷 has approved a multi-million redevelopment of the famous Champs Élysées into an “extraordinary garden.” 🍃✨⁣
⁣
this famous avenue (literal translation - the Elysian Fields, the ideal paradise ✨ in Ancient Greek literature) has sadly become famous for other reasons: pollution, traffic, over-tourism, consumerism & abandonment by locals. 🚗✖️ the Champs Élysées is even more polluted than the ring road around the city itself.⁣
⁣
in an effort to revitalise the area & develop Paris into a green, more eco-friendly city - the project aims to reduce space for vehicles by half, turn roads into pedestrian and green areas, and create tunnels of trees to improve air quality. 🌳🌿♻️✨ the idea is to rejuvenate the famous avenue into a more inclusive & ecological space. ⁣
⁣
the project will also include the green redevelopment of the Place de la Concorde at the end of the Champs Élysées 🇫🇷🌿 - this part is expected to be completed by 2024 in time for the Olympics, with the entire projecting being completed some years after that. ⁣
⁣
here’s to hoping for a more green, ecological & inspiring future - and for many more such inspiring developments in European cities! 🍃♻️🇪🇺🙌⁣

Building a cleaner, healthier world is worth getting excited about! 🤩

That's why today we were excited to connect with so many people across Europe and special guests like @cfigueres , @nicorosberg , @massimobottura for the launch of the European Climate Pact 🌱

The Climate Pact is all about citizen participation, engagement and activism.

We revealed the first #EUClimatePact Ambassadors who are committed to tackling climate and environmental problems, inspiring others to do the same, and we also heard from bigger organisations like @uefa_official and @google on how they are planning to do their part.

After hearing everyone’s stories and the incredible things people and organisations are doing to protect our planet, we were filled with energy and enthusiasm to keep going.

The Climate Pact is about YOU and we need everyone on board.

Join in and together let’s bring about change for a better 🌍🌱

If you missed the livestream event this morning, we’ve got you! Click the link in our bio to watch the entire event.
