Yesterday was the last event of our exhibition ‘George Hallett: Home and Exile’. It was also my last event at LJMU/ERL Gallery. I joined LJMU in 2022 while finishing my PhD on George Hallett at Birkbeck, University of London.

At LJMU I was able to develop two modules as part of the BA and MA Museum Studies and Exhibition Histories programmes, focusing on Black art and curatorial practices, including Black British, African, Caribbean, African American, and Global South art scenes.
It’s been a great experience opening the mind of students in the NW of England. Some of whom are already active in the Liverpool art scene and soon beyond it.

Thank you to my colleagues at LJMU especially Pr Joasia Krysa, Dr James Schofield, Dr Hana Leaper, and Andrew Ibi. Shout out to Dr Gabriela Saenger Silva, Nele Washbourne, and Kabir D’Silva who worked with me on the George Hallett exhibition and public programme.

Thank you to everyone who came to the events I hosted; to the funders and partners: LJMU's IAT and ERC Grant, British Council, Lubaina Himid Projects, and of course, last but not least... all the artists and participants who accepted invitations to exhibit at ERL Gallery or take part in our public programme:

George Hallett forever with us, Maymoena Hallett, Eugene Skeef, Imruh Bakari, Gavin Jantjes, Gideon Mendel, Breeze Yoko, Pr Tamar Garb, Kuamen, Nsaka Sandrine Nganga, Fab Lab, Shiraz Bayjoo, Joy Gregory, Freya Tewelde, Yvon Ngassam, Jean David Nkot, Boris Nzebo, Pr Dr Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, as well as Tate Liverpool, Liverpool Biennial, and International Biennial Association.

I'll still be around, mostly between England and Cameroon. Further pushing for a recognition of African and Black artists who are part of 'Forgotten chapters of British art history', continuing my research on South African exile including a George Hallett display in England next October, and developing amazing projects in Cameroon as part of the French Institute's 2027 cultural season launching in January, and Bikoka Art Project. Exact dates to be announced soon!
