POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Now at the free zine library at @recreationalcoffee and select little free libraries around Long Beach, you can find a special free copy of the limited edition One Story “Phases” by this month’s feature, Chris Vanjonnack!

This spooky love story between two ghosts will thrill you, chill you, and leave you longing for an argument you once had about a horror movie that or may not be a hidden confession about an international cover-up in disguise. Grab your copy while supplies last!

Double Text is part of this year’s Queer Zest zine fest! We’re so excited to be part of this online celebration of queer publishing and creativity. Order any of our books and we’ll include free zines with your order!

Double Text produces media that uses the deeply personal as a lens for engaging the world. Our work is by and about queer people, and the way they move between text and subtext. We have three chapbooks out now 📚🛍️

oh my gosh, OC Zine Fest 2026 was so amazing!! everyone we spoke to was so sweet and cool, I wish we could have stopped at every table 😭 I'm so grateful for the conversations we were able to have, the mutual aid & zines panel was so informative and inspiring. I'm so happy I was able to trade EVERY zine and button I brought with me and also completely drain both of our planned budgets for the day (😅 this counts as an early birthday present... heh....) I feel like I learned so much and got some really cool ideas I'm excited to work and collaborate on. I'm going to try my best to tag everyone here, but please please please reach out if I somehow missed you or anyone you see here. thanks so much for such a radical time, zines are forever and community will ALWAYS prevail!!! ❤️❤️❤️

@oczinefest

zinesters tagged (it wouldn't let me tag some, but I put their handle so that y'all can still look at their work ❤️)

We did it! Thank you to every maker who trusted us with their work, the hundreds of folk who walked through the door, and every helper who made the day possible. Photos are headed to makers soon — in the meantime, here's a few of our favorites from James and December @decemberescudero . Special thanks to @RecreationalCoffee for having us, to the Rec team for brewing up so much goodness for us, and to patrons like you for making BLZF possible and 💅🏽 cute. So many zines found new homes. We’re excited to tell you all the details soon!

I’m feeling a big gratitude to our arts council. Always but especially because last week I went to my neighborhood community meeting and got to see @artslb present their work in a new setting for me, and as an emotional being, I do not take it for granted that we are so lucky here in Long Beach to have such an incredible arts council.

Rather than just presenting, they brought a standing poster board to jot down ideas from the people at the meeting of what they’d like to see from the arts. True leadership is of service.

The arts council uplifts artists, funds art projects, connects artists, builds community, centers equity, and responds to the needs of the community. Murals, exhibits, crosswalks—most of the art you see around the city is probably supported by the arts council.

And now they are mapping the city’s art and working on restoring public art. And putting together art tours to celebrate Long Beach art during the LA Olympics.

Our arts council is active, responsive, robust, and above all, kind.

As a being guided by intuition, I only post when I feel moved to say something so good thing I had these photos from last year I never posted!

Poll: how has the arts council for Long Beach impacted your life?

ANOTHER MEDIA BLITZ!!!

(today is thank you day)

What’s a book without a bunch of #thankyous right? And I’m pretty sure most of you don’t have a clue your name is in print. Anyway, here’s ONE OF the thank you pages for my new book,

For the last several months we’ve been working on an anthology. It took a lot longer than we anticipated, but we’re so happy with the result. Queering the Apocalypse: Poems for the End of the World features work from 19 different poets, all bringing their take on the end of days. We have fire, flood, heartbreak, zombies, and more than a little hope for the future.
Available in print now, with an ebook on the way. 🖇️ for copies, or request it at your local bookstore or library.

Please join us for #LAPLZineClub on Zoom today at 4PM Pacific.

Today's guests are Evan & Ra of Biggest Little Zine Fair!
#BLZF

They're going to be talking about how they got started and the sorts of things they do to keep running!

"BLZF is a pop-up all-ages zine market where artists submit their work to be showcased and sold— no need to be there in person! Our small team of organizers runs the event, handling everything from setup to sales, and all proceeds (after credit card fees) go directly to the makers. Beyond the market, we also host free workshops and community events celebrating zine culture, fostering creativity, and bringing zinemakers together. BLZF celebrates unique, handmade zines that uplift diverse voices, social justice, local creators, niche interests, and DIY culture. We do not accept zines that promote hate, oppression, or discrimination. Our goal is to make publishing and selling easy, no matter your experience level." - https://biggestlittlezinefair.com/
