Incredible short trip to Tahoe, lucked out as it seems we caught the first good conditions of the year! I'm my mind this crag was always full of fist crimping, turns out there's quite a bit of tech/squeeze blocks kicking around. Thanks @everascending for the awesome tour!

We made a movie! A 40 minute short film documenting our adventures in the haunted forest over the summer. Lots of new boulders, and countless fun memories. We hope you enjoy this little project as much as we do!

Best Buds Forever, a Kirkwood Bouldering Film.
A time capsule of the best summer a few best buds could have ever asked for. All FA’s, all shot on MiniDV, full length, releasing on Halloween — the area is the Haunted Forest after all.

It’s hard express the gratitude I have for my friends who made this possible. Thank you @shaylor_jack for being my muse, my best bud, and a constant source of inspiration, @emilynicol.e for her vision, constant support, and endless psyche, @everascending for his mentorship and contagious energy, @luke.larson__ for his kindness, continuous effort, and all the great hangs, and @adrian.f.velasquez and @jcobgorge for seeing what the rest of us hoped others would in this magical little forest being more than just a summer home for the girl scouts. Fish Hook, v11/8a
Probably the sharpest hold i’ve ever pulled on. Ouch.

In lieu of @shaylor_jack beginning to post some of the raw iphone footage from the haunted forest this summer, i thought i’d share one more bloc, and a really special moment, straight from from the handicam, before a proper teaser, and subsequently the full Best Buds video! Think of it as an appetizer, on the house. Video is probably going to be closer to halloween, but isn’t there some old adage about how the best things take time? I’d like to think so.

After a little banter and chat I happened again upon what, after a little asking around, is the Blue Shoat, a nifty squeezer in good if sparse company along what you could call a strawberry hillside. Middle-end of June with a cool spell and an early morning I set the umbrella up for the starting slopers and added a sit to this nifty line, and with the last cool snap that saw 52F degrees in the Carson Pass neighborhood, went back to shoot some video, which will eventually get compounded into a few minute format when I get around to it. Another nice one in a nice spot.

I’m getting ready to embark on an indelible journey across the globe to South Africa 🇿🇦. As I eagerly wait amongst many single serving passengers, I reminisce the past several weeks and months spent roaming around the Sierras. Here’s a small sampling of what comes to mind:

1) Urs linking pieces to the puzzle on the Darkseid Project.
2) Nick weaving down a swerving bog, descending from Mt Price.
3)Trevor mantling Rami’s Noodle Bowl 🍲 at Lyon’s Den.
4) Pastel boys on the spot, while Owen rides a Lenticular cloud out at Lyon’s Den.
5)A dash of greenery in a sea of granite…
6)Bountiful beauty on breaks at work…
7)Eternal Traveler, at Alpine Beavers.
8)Golden hour at Upper Upper Free for All.
9)Pterospora (or Woodland Pinedrops), at Donner Lake.
10)Urs remembering his way up Nega Ninja at the Buttes.

Highlights from June. A couple weeks after getting back stateside, we were off again to Tahoe. While I love Northern AZ, the Sierra will always have a special place in my heart. Between the place and people, shoot dang I couldn’t have had a better getaway. Thanks to all the homies for making it a truly splendid time.

Funny enough I’d tried to find this thing a while back but followed the directions in the book which stated 4.2 miles up when it’s actually 2.4… that’ll happen. An older (p) that @everascending tidied up and ticked day before yesterday -“I’ll go there right meow” says I- and it’s a doozy. Nice one to have on the circuit, featuring pretty friendly stone and some athleticism over a bit of a landing though not too bad… I watched his video yesterday and worked out a couple scarier moves for a minute til I set out into kindof ad-lib territory here and there. So, not quite as pretty as he done but heck I’m knocking the dust off after almost a week of no climbing, chasing a largish irrigation issue just as the heat closes in. Looks like a cooling is coming this weekend though! Plus it’s flower season up there, and the old Ukrainian couple is back in our valley with their bee boxes… time for another gallon 🍯
