We’re excited to announce this historic victory for San Diego! Today, the county UNANIMOUSLY voted in favor of implementing the San Diego County Film Initiative. We’d like to thank Supervisor Paloma Aguirre for championing this measure. Years of advocacy between stakeholders, labor, and the San Diego community has made this possible. It isn’t JUST about film, but rather creating a permanent infrastructure to secure jobs for our San Diego talent and businesses. So many have had to drive long distances or leave town in order to secure work, but thanks to amazing leadership and years of advocacy, we’re prioritizing the talent already HERE in San Diego! There’s certainly a lot of work ahead of us. This is just the start…but a great start! Thanks to everyone who’s stood along side us. 🎬 #sdcfilminitiative #sandiego #localhire #localjobs #SanDiegoCountyFilmInitiative

I wanted to take an opportunity to share the good news! The San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted in favor of advancing the SDC Film Initiative! It’s a measure that the San Diego Film Commission Foundation initially developed, and along with the generous help of dedicated supporters and film professionals, we’ve worked hard to get past the finish line. It looks as though progress is being made, and at record speeds, but we’re still not totally there yet. The board has approved $500,000 to set up a film office, and they’d like to hear from local Film Industry stakeholders in order to decide how best to serve San Diego. In the links section is a quick survey that I’d appreciate you taking a brief moment to fill out. #SanDiegoCountyFilmInitiative #FilmedinSanDiego #SanDiegoFilmCommissionFoundation #JordanJacobo #JordanDoesProductions SDC Film Initiative press conference at the San Diego County Administration Building. Thank you to everyone who joined us in support of the initiative! Supervisor Paloma Aguirre addressing the cameras. Thank you so much for championing our cause! Fox 5 San Diego featured the story. On June 25, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve $500,000 to establish a regional Film Office! As this process moves forward, the coalition remains committed to advancing the vision of the San Diego County Film Initiative: • Establish a County Film Commission and fully staffed Film Office to streamline productions, coordinate regional efforts, and provide long-term industry leadership. • Create and retain well-paying local jobs by growing San Diego’s film and television industry and strengthening opportunities for our local workforce and businesses. • Launch a competitive, performance-based rebate program that attracts productions while prioritizing local hires, equity, and meaningful community investment. ACTION NEEDED The County and CVL Economics (who they’ve hired as an implementation consultant) are now seeking input from film and media stakeholders to help shape these recommendations. Your feedback is essential to ensuring the final plan reflects the needs of our local industry. The survey (located in links section above) takes 10-12 minutes (available in English and Spanish), may be completed anonymously and must be submitted by no later than Friday, Aug. 7. Thank you to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors! @supervisoraguirre @terra4sd @monica4sandiego @joelandersonca #SanDiegoCountyFilmInitiative #SanDiegoFilmCommissionFoundation #SanDiegoFilm #FilmedinSanDiego #SanDiego
