The cinematographer @antwoni wanted to keep the natural lakeside sunlight as part of the look, while giving the can a bit more shape and control.

We used an @eversirius Multimirror to place the sunlight where we needed it, with a white board on the opposite side adding a small kicker.

Nothing complicated — just a useful way to work when the real sun already looks good and you want a bit more direction without losing the natural feel.

We're having a lot of fun doing a promo shoot with these new reflectors for organic dappled light. If you like CRLS panels, these give you flex and lots of tile sizes. Reach out if you want to demo a set from Lightbulb!

Some shots just work.

Benedict Cumberbatch, CBE, reading to camera ahead of @bbcsport England v Argentina World Cup coverage. Powerful, still, and beautifully lit.
DP Hamish Anderson and gaffer Nuno built subtle, dappled texture into this frame with our RayFlex Everything Kit. That’s exactly what the kit is for: fast, organic light that adds real depth to a shot without slowing the crew down.

A joy to see it used this well.

One of the useful parts of MediaTech is hearing how different teams think about lighting, not just the products themselves.

This was a good conversation around practical technique and workflow with Chris de santos from @gripandgaffclubsa
More MediaTech highlights on the way.

We’ve all spent hours trying to make natural-looking light. These flexible reflectors make organic dapple light in seconds.

This is a little flavour of what’s possible.

5mm: Fine, complex and mottled
10mm: Slightly larger, soft and natural
20mm: Chunky, organic pools of light
25mm: Large, uneven dramatic pools of light

Distance and flex multiply everything you’re seeing here.
This is the starting point, not the ceiling.

Set up this scene for a short film I am working on and figured I should break down the lighting given that i set up all the toys for this one.

Wanted to create some shameless mood, color contrast, and experiment with using light to add texture.

Two weeks later, and we’re still thinking about an incredible few days at Mediatech Africa.
Here’s the show through Lola’s lens: a look back at the innovation and connections that made this year’s event one to remember.

A huge thanks to @corvidcapture for capturing the event from a whole new perspective.

🏆 We’re bringing it home once again!

After Mediatech Africa returned for the first time since 2019, we’re incredibly proud to share that Movievision has once again been awarded a Platinum Stand Award. It was an honour to receive this recognition at one of Africa’s premier broadcast, film and production technology exhibitions.

It represents months of planning, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving and a shared goal of creating an experience that showcased the very best of Movievision and the world-class brands we represent.

Thank you, Mediatech Africa. We’ll see you at the next one.
