Akron!!!!!! Im Camille Renner Coughlin, your @everydayakron host on this gorgeous fall week! ☀️ Shoutout to my sweet, supportive, Akron-loving husband @joecoughlin_ for encouraging me to sign up to share a peak into our life with you all this week. I honestly am quite the example of an Akron rebounder, and am proud to share my story with you. I was born in Akron, but do not remember living here as a kid because my family moved to Florida when I was 3. Against all odds, I found my way back to NEOhio by way of @johncarrollu, started dating my Akronite husband, and now live a mile away from the house I was born in. While it’s sometimes surprises folks I chose to plant my roots in Ohio vs. sunny southwest florida, there really is nothing like the friendly and creative Akron community, and I’m so proud to start my family here. This week, you can expect to hear a little bit about my favorite local businesses, my work at @grtakronchamber, and lots of pictures of my dog. Talk soon, Akron! - @alwaysbecamille

🏘️ Akron just made it cheaper and faster to build a house. Almost nobody noticed. The City of Akron and the Summit County Land Bank released Made in Akron, a set of 10 free residential designs created by local firm Grassroots Architecture. The options run from a two bedroom, one and a half bath cottage up a trip-plex And zoom out: @dodcolumbus is rewriting its zoning for half the city, @cityofakronoh is handing out pre approved plans. Ohio’s cities are competing on how easy they can make it to build. How’s @clecitycouncil coming with improving the process? The part that matters 👇 Every plan is already pre reviewed through the Summit County Building Standards Department. Builders skip roughly 3-8 months of plan review and save around $8,000 in design costs. A companion Pattern Book covers porches, entrances, and materials so new homes fit the neighborhoods around them. If you own a vacant lot in Akron, or you are a small builder, the most expensive part of starting just became free. 🐦 Yoga and Birding Event!!! 🐦 Join Sarah and @megandelongg for a yoga flow and birding walk at the edge of the Nimisilla Resevoir. 🧘🏼‍♀️ Yoga instructor Sarah Waite from YouBloom LLC will guide everyone through gentle standing stretches before and after birding. These stretches will aid in relieving tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back. 🐻 🎵 Last year, we wrote TWO SONGS (one is featured in the background of the first video) for the independently developed video game, MERRY BEAR, which was created by our good friend, @coryseashell. As a CapSOUL Emerging Artist for August-September, Cory has an exhibition on view at @akron_soul_train until this Saturday, Sept.12. The gallery hours are 11:00 AM-4:00 PM. As a part of the immersive exhibition, you can demo the unreleased game and hear both songs while you do so! Our friend is so incredibly talented, and the game is so beautiful, charming, and fun, you won’t want to put down the controller! They had to pull me away!
