Ammar Sabban, 38, puppeteer, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 2016. iPhone photo by Iman Aldabbagh @photosbyiman #SaudiStoriesByIman ....
An architect turned puppeteer at 35 dreamt all his life of being an actual Muppet on The Muppet Show, today Ammar is Cookie Monster and Grover on Iftah Ya Simsim (Arab version of Sesame Street) after a career as an architect for over a decade. At the global initiative #CreativeMornings / Jeddah chapter (@cm_jeddah), he spoke about following his childhood dream, about failing at first, getting rejected by Iftah Ya Simsim the first time he applied there, the support and patience of his wife and family, and also about dealing with societal objections on his journey to the career change, so he worked on himself and learned how to build puppets and started his own YouTube show (@afroott) before landing the job a year ago. Event took place at #rossopomodorojeddah

"ان الله مع الصابرين"
The faithful and the cranky. Moments before breaking fast. The last hour is always the hardest.

We sat on the pavement, back to back, waiting for Maghreb prayers to break our fast in unison. Oranges, dates, Kanji, samosas, water and Laban up were garnished on top of rows and rows of blue plastic wrap waiting to be eaten. This is how we broke our fast yesterday. We experienced Iftar in the realist way possible with 3000 other people from the community in #MyDubai. There is no other way to do it. Thank you @fryingpanadventures for delivering a unique experience in Dubai yet again. #30daysoframadan #birdseyeview #rooftopping #ramadan #unseentrails #gulfphotoplus #everydaymiddleeast #shaimasdubai #soulofdubai #visitdubai #minimalpeople #patternseverywhere #postthepeople #fryingpanadventures #buzzfeasts #hiddengem #sonyalpha #wanderlust #igersdubai #insidedubai #insidedubai_ramadan #agameoftones

19 candles for 19 soldiers...in June 22, a bus carrying 36 army conscripts who had just finished their training and were on break to visit family steered off the road into a canyon in southern Iran. As the news slowly rolled in, reports immediately surfaced that another bus carrying army soldiers had overturned. Reports said 19 soldiers were killed and 77 were injured in the two accidents.....#militaryservice

This is one of those moments that you don't forget, that makes you feel happy to be alive as you experience life and the different cultures this planet has to offer. Sunrise panoramic captured from the historical Citadel that sits on a hill in the middle of the capitol city, a morning I'll never forget! #throwbackthursday
