8 days in with this sweet boy. Narwhal, better known as Wally, has captured the heart of every doorman, neighbor, vet and, most of all, me. Thank you to @everylastonerescue for rescuing this hunk and thank you @nycacc for taking him in after he was found tied up in front of a bodega in Williamsburg. October, by the way, is Adopt A Shelter Dog Month. Get to it🐶. Thank you @davidcabrerapadilla for the photo! @tiny_tim_rescue_fund

This is different then typical posts on this page and there are two reasons for that. One and the most exciting, this perfect girl found the most amazing and best fit home possible for her. The other reason is to say Thank you, to Shortcake and Every Last One. Fostering is the most rewarding thing i’ve done in my life but it can also be exhausting at times and for many reasons. Of course the easy guessed things, new dog learning new routines, sometimes working them through behavioral issues and quarks that were no fault of their own but results from their past environments. What can be the most exhausting and challenging is the crisis we’re currently experiencing right now and feeling like you’re doing everything possible but it’s still not enough. Not only that but the lack of regulation and laws in this world that is so separate from ours but should be similar. With that lack of regulation, laws, and rescues being held accountable for standards there are many rescues who unfortunately do not do the right things no only by the dogs but by the fosters that hold up these rescue programs. I have fostered for 3 years and due to these issues I stopped for the past 5 months. Until I saw Shortcake. She reminded me that everything I do is worth it. From the second I met her she was grateful and I knew I was willing to do anything to ensure her safety. @kaitlinndanielle thankyou for seeing her since the beginning and advocating for this girl. Thank you Shortcake for reminding me why I fell in love with fostering and reminding me to continue to make the impact, no matter how hard it gets or how tired we are. In honor of this extremely special girl this account will follow all the upcoming pups in her honor!
- Yes the b&w is for dramatic effect and yes i’m sobbing.
- Thankyou to her amazing forever mom for the first pics 😭❤️
Side note: I AM BEAMING WITH JOY FOR HER.

🚨 SPIKE #235208 NEEDS A MIRACLE TODAY 🚨

I can’t believe my eyes. And I’m not putting music over this video because I want you to hear and see just how wonderful, gentle, and kind Spike truly is. ❤️

This beautiful 2-year-old has spent over 30 days in a pop-up crate, in a small dog room filled with constant barking, strangers coming and going, and dogs being moved in and out. Yet somehow, Spike has held on to his sweetness and his sanity.

Following a short-term foster stay where some behavioral concerns were noted, Spike was placed on staff-only walks. I’ve personally seen him out on walks, and I have not witnessed the reactivity described.

He deserves to be seen for who he is, not just for the notes in his file. He deserves a chance to decompress, to feel safe, and to show someone the dog he can be outside the stress of a shelter.

💔 Spike is on today’s euthanasia list and is at risk of losing his life.

He is only TWO YEARS OLD. He deserves a family, a soft place to land, and his happily ever after.

Please, let’s not let this be the end of Spike’s story. 🙏❤️

‼️🚨‼️🚨MS PRETTY PENNY IS NOW AT RISK 😭😭😭 Meet Ms. Pretty Penny 🥹

With her adorable pouty face and gentle, curious nature, Penny is still figuring out the world around her. Give her a little time, and she starts to warm up to pets and new people. On a recent outing, she sniffed around Central Park, settled in for brunch, and walked through the busy city without reacting to passing runners, scooters, traffic, or other dogs.

Penny has so much potential, and she deserves the chance to discover just how good life can be outside the shelter.

She is currently at Manhattan ACC and needs a rescue to pull her and a foster to step up. You don’t have to adopt to change her life. Fostering could be the beginning of everything for Penny.

Can you help her get out? Please reach out if you can foster or if your rescue can pull her. Sharing helps, too.
