I am a passionate believer in all children being able to sew so they can mend, adapt, personalise and create their own clothes. Fast fashion has a devastating impact on our world.
Every second a dumper truck of clothing waste goes to landfill and synthetic textiles and clothing now accounts for approximately 35% of ocean microplastics.

So... I run monthly children's sewing workshops @milliemoonshop
I create 'sew your own Nurdle' kits and have free nurdle sewing downloads on my website.

I had such a brilliant weekend, thanks to the amazing @everyoneneedspockets team who organised the clothes swap, mending day and lots more for Sustainable Fashion Week. I am so proud to live in Frome 🙌 I re-mended some of my husband's shorts and got inspired to continue upcycling a jacket. Remember, mending is a revolutionary and planet-loving act and it's easy to learn how 🪡🧵💖🌍🫛🫘

What a fabulous morning sewing in the sunshine with @everyoneneedspockets as part of the #stitchitdontditchit display to mark the start of #sustainablefashionweek

Every second across the world a rubbish truck of fabric and clothing is sent to landfill.

Sharing the art of sewing and mending is something very close to my heart. 🪡💖

🪡STITCH IT DON’T DITCH ITwith @everyoneneedspockets 🪡

🪡SATURDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER 11AM-12NOON IN THE WESTWAY🪡

Join the Street Stitching demonstration to mend your broken clothes out in public for an hour. It’s a way to come together to encouraging everyone to mend their belongings as a practical and joyful solution to waste and over consumption.

🪡WHEN AND WHERE
Please meet by the bridge between the Westway and the Library on the Ellenbray side at 10.30am on Saturday 26th September. We will set up and then sit and stitch from 11am - 12noon

🪡WHAT TO BRING
Bring as little as possible with you!
Something to mend for an hour, a chair or stool to sit on (ideally folding so it’s easy to carry to and from the event) and a banner saying ‘Stitch it don’t ditch it’ to attach to the back of your chair…and that’s it.

🪡BANNERS
Bring a Banner or sign to attach to your chair saying ’Stitch it don’t ditch it’. These can be anything from the beautiful stitched banners I know some of you have already made to a hand written sign taped to the chair back! Remember to bring something to attach it to either the chair or your back.

🪡THE STITCH IT DON’T DITCH IT MOVEMENT
Suzi Warren is the artist behind the Street Stitching movement.
The aim is to demonstrate that repairing something broken gives our brains a bigger dopamine hit than purchasing something new. Persuading people of the benefits of mending rather than making them feel defensive about their purchasing habits. Mending isn’t a chore. It’s a mindful act of self soothing and relaxation. It promotes gratitude for what we have and a respect for how our garments are constructed. Our relationship with our clothes is like any relationship - it becomes more satisfying, meaningful and rewarding the longer it lasts.

Enjoy! 💚👖👗

Alongside the swap, we invite you to slow down and reconnect with the idea that all clothing comes from, and eventually returns to, the Earth 🌎

It's always so wicked to look back at past years of SFW and celebrate what this incredible community have achieved. In 2025, we had more than 300 events, taking place in over 80 locations, with 32 Hubs and more than 100 community events. What's not to love about that.

For 2026, we (as always) want to grow even more. So, we're looking for you to take part! We've extended our sign-up deadline to the end of July, so if you're thinking about taking part and would like to sign up or know more, you can head to the links in our bio for your next steps.

Don't be a stranger - we'll see you there in September!

With special thanks to @bs3_community_development, @stokesley_clothes_swap, @typical_jasminexo, Leanne Griffiths, @sfwhub.torquay, @cherwellcollective, @store_somer, @bcu_fashion, @queerswap, @finisterre , @zerocarbonguildford, @norwichuni_fashion, @sustainablefashionweekcp and @everyoneneedspockets for their 2025 contributions.

What a blast this year’s Frome River Festival was. We were delighted by the number of people who joined us to celebrate the river 🎉

This was the third year FFFF were involved in the planning and delivery and every year we’re told this is a highlight event in Frome’s calendar - we’re chuffed to bring people to the river and welcome your ideas for the 2027 festival.

A massive thank you to all stall holders and activity providers - the festival wouldn’t exist without your generosity, passion and talent!

💬 Shoot us a message if you’d like to join the Frome Families for the Future community to get involved with local climate action - in a family friendly way!
