Iconic Destinations - Ran Ki Vav, Gujarat, India.

Diving down into this incredible stepwell that I have had pinned on my map for many years. We were on the way to Rajasthan after our time in Mumbai and just had to make the detour off the beaten path for this and it was totally worth it.

Originally built in the year 1063, for centuries it was buried under monsoon silt and rediscovered in the 1940's and later restored in the 1980's. It is designed as an underground shrine or inverted temple symbolizing the sanctity of water and storing monsoon rains for the dry season. There are hundreds of intricate stone carvings of various Hindu deities throughout and it is absolutely jaw dropping!

Sigiriya - The Last Shot

After 2 days of 4am wake ups, climbing mountains and trekking around lakes. I had to make one last push at the end of the final day in Sigiriya. The mission - to see if I could get a night shot of Lion Rock with a star filled sky. Unfortunately, the moon in its current phase was too bright to get the epic shot I envisioned but as the night sky was clear I went for it anyway. I'm glad I did as even though the moon was bright it allowed some light to hit the rock.

But there were some other issues of concern that made this a tricky shot to capture. The slow but steady stream of traffic headlights on the nearby road wreaking havoc on my 20 second long exposures followed by the police stopping by and telling me to pack up and leave.

Sadly a foreign tourist was tragically killed by a wild elephant a few weeks ago and this spot was in a popular elephant path. I just managed to get a decent enough shot before I took their advice and went back to the homestay and crashed out.

Giant Sea Turtles - Turtle Point, Batigama

Even though the waves were ruthless and the currents strong. I still got one last chance to swim with these fascinating turtles and had them pretty much all to myself. One of them came face to face with me and and he looked me up and down and just swam alongside me. A moment I will never forget..

Our whole month travelling around Cambodia was slowly building up to this very moment. Sunrise at Ankor Wat. Watching the temple slowly come to light and laying eyes on it for the first time is absolutely spectacular. But imagine how thrilled I was when I got back and checked my photos to find that there was actually a secret meteor shower happening at the same time. The long exposure shots I got managed to see what the naked eye couldn't and made these moments even more incredible.
