This wild day was almost over shadowed in my mind by bigger, somehow sillier outings this summer. But looking back at it, the “Bum Buster 3000” was a pretty great and special day of building mountain readiness. It holds its own as a lasting memory in an adventurous summer.

I drew a route I thought would be fun and wild, my friends corrected it (as per usual - and thankfully) to make it feasible and off we went.

Three peaks, big rocks, soooo much vert and a really fun special day in the Coquihalla Summit Rec area 😍

Whistler 50k

It’s always a pleasure heading north for a race. And getting to run this 50k in British Columbia was particularly cool!

I was stoked to take the win, in what ended up being a really close race between Shaun, Josh, Marc and I. They kept me on my toes the last few km’s!

It was also amazing to see Maya win her first 50k! In a really strong women’s field. Pretty cool to share that experience with her!

One of my goals this year was to qualify for OCC/ CCC. And I’m really glad that I chose this race to secure a spot. UTMB can feel like a bit much, with plenty of rules and regulation. But I really did enjoy the course, and racing in the Costal mountains is a special experience.

UTMB WHISTLER! 🥇🇨🇦

Although the journey is just getting started, there’s so many people who I wouldn’t be here without. Living and breathing running is a dream come true, and possible thanks to @thetrailhouseco. What a time to be alive!

ok I can’t be that nonchalant- i am..
chalant, as was this plan.
The list:
Something that might take nearly 24hrs
Link up some big summits
And complete all travel around them by human power

We left at midnight on friday (11:59pm so the night would in fact belong to friday but don’t get me started).
40km by bike to Flora
up/down Flora by 6am

Biked to MacFarlane 20km
up/down Macfarlane (don’t ask me the time i don’t remember)

Biked to new borden FSR and went up McGuire by foot from the river valley
and back down

Biked another 20km back home sometime before dark.
140km covered
5700m gained and lost
and about 19.5 great hours with friends in the River Valley!

Starting the exposed downclimb off Rexford after a lap with @exploromann , one of the funnest scramble laps you can do in the area.
Some of my favourite views can be seen from this range - Slesse across the valley, Nesakwatch Spires just north, its truly an underrated zone thats just begging for more route development, and better yet, proper records of it all.
Its a classic for the Fraser Valley to have nothing more than a blurb or two in regards to route descriptions, development done by a handful of crushers, mostly blue collar folk who had absolutely no interest in sharing exact information, just stoked to have been able to be outside having an adventure with their friends.
The beauty of that, is the adventure awaits!
Some of the craziest stories Ive heard have been from solid climbers, expecting to have a casual outting on a 5.9 alpine route, only to find a complete sandbag and dirty ass route due to the lack of traffic - leaving nothing but a complete epic.
