One tip for reducing hate is to practice empathy and understanding towards others. Empathy involves putting yourself in someone else's shoes and trying to understand their perspective, experiences, and emotions. When you make an effort to see things from another person's point of view, it becomes easier to find common ground and foster compassion.

“This water drowned my family. This water mixed my blood. This water tells my story. This water knows it all.”

So many elders and ancestors lost at sea. So many unearthed stories through the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean (East African slave trade out of Bagamoya). I’m astounded, humbled and emotional by the sheer fierceness and resolve of Black people. And this bar from this song reminds me of what we’ve been through as a people and how we’ve overcame — even with still a ways to go.

My Album “Meta” asked me to be the host of this year’s global Juneteenth programming which included wonderful appearances from @jazminesullivan , @dancetheatreofharlem @tune2tunde and many more. The honor hit differently as a native Houstonian who has been celebrating Juneteenth for many years. We explored Our Story, Our Moment. Our Future. Shout out to Meta’s dope @$$ production team. 1 of 1.

LIFE ON MARS

“Though I’m cold like New York, my heart is warm like Miami
I’m just trying to build a kingdom for my people and my family…

Sometimes I don’t know what to say, the pain never stops, the cloud never goes away, the rain never drops…

It’s a luxury, I’m grateful that a mustard seed of faith is enough to be, enough to move a mountain

My pen is an artery, my heart is a fountain…”

2021 = 2012. Years of the highest highs and lowest lows.

Don’t quite have the language yet…but what I do know is…I surrender all, to God.

Wishing you and yours a season of surrender and ease.

And again, @jayelectronica so eloquently captures a whole season in less than 16 bars. 🤯

link in bio. listen.
You won’t regret it.

Did you know? 🧐 There’s a tool in the treatment of mood disorders where you literally create a ✨ pleasant events calendar ✨ to counter the sense that life is exclusively miserable. Fun part? This doesn’t have to be something a therapist prescribes you. We can ALL do this: Schedule leisure. Schedule pleasure. Schedule ease, laughter, delight. Then, show tf up.
