Trust Me.

Four weeks ago was my last Sabbath at @decatursda and it was my most vulnerable worship moment. Editing this was emotional and it’s longer than my usual videos, but I wanted to share this special moment.

When I moved to Atlanta in 2020, COVID made finding a church home so much more difficult. I visited other churches and sang occasionally, but I didn’t have a home church.

@simoneraiis found me on Instagram and invited me to sing on her team. We had never met or sang together before, and that Sabbath was my first time ever meeting her or Decatur.

From day one, Decatur embraced and welcomed me. I remember the immense amount of hospitality, warmth, and thanks I was given as a stranger. I never forgot it. From that day, Decatur became my home church. A place to fully pour my heart out. My family.

With my departure and the passing of our associate pastor happening around the same time, emotions were extremely high. There were many tears from me and everyone, especially with the message of the songs. This song wasn’t just for me. But that’s what I love about Decatur. That’s what makes it so special: it’s a safe space.

Decatur SDA: I cannot thank you enough. Thank you for embracing a stranger. Thank you for seeing me when others did not. Thank you for allowing me to be my authentic self in worship. Thank you for listening to me. Thank you for singing alongside me. Thank you for bearing my burdens and encouraging me. Thank you for loving me, even in my darkest moments. Thank you for showing me unconditional care and patience. Thank you to every single person in my Decatur family for literally changing my life. I will carry Decatur with me forever and will always be a member of Decatur SDA.

A special thank you to @monique.griffiths for standing in the gap for me in this moment with your love and ministry and for speaking over me. Often ministers don’t get a chance to be ministered to, so this meant the world to me. Thank you for seeing my need.

I didn’t expect my journey in Atlanta to end so abruptly, but I know I received an irreplaceable blessing in Decatur. See you again soon 🤍

My birthday month was beautiful. From playing with WSO and seeing the eclipse in Waco, to Atlanta to celebrate with my amazing friends. To Toronto as it bloomed in spring and back to Austin where my sweet students surprised me by decorating my office and writing me notes that made me cry. Hello 30, and hello May! Looking forward. 🫶🏽 The snare was the icing on the cake 🎂
