📱➡️👥 Sometimes the most important connection is the one right in front of you.

During this mentorship session, our young men participated in a discussion about control, presence, and the role technology plays in our daily lives.

In a world where our phones are often within arm's reach, it can be easy to become attached to constant notifications, entertainment, and distractions. But true growth also comes from learning when to unplug, be present, and engage with the people and experiences around us.

Our mentors challenged the young men to think about what it means to step away from their devices, live in the moment, and recognize that not everything requires an immediate response.

These conversations are about more than phones. They're about discipline, self-awareness, healthy habits, and learning to focus on what truly matters.

At The Village 314, we're committed to helping our young men develop the tools they need to navigate today's world while building meaningful relationships, confidence, and character.

Sometimes the best signal isn't Wi-Fi—it's human connection. 🖤👑

Our young men are officially stepping into leadership—accepting the responsibility of guiding, representing, and uplifting their peers. This isn’t just a title… it’s a commitment to lead with character, discipline, and purpose.
We’re proud of each officer for saying “yes” to growth, accountability, and service. The future is in good hands.

Serving others reminds us that purpose is found beyond ourselves. This morning, we spent time giving back at the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank—supporting families, meeting real needs, and showing up with intention and care. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” Service is how we continue to answer that call.

As part of 21c Museum Hotel St. Louis commitment to Impact Hospitality and giving back to our community, we are proud to host Mistletoe Mixology, a festive cocktail hour benefiting The Village Mentoring Program as our December Nonprofit of the Month.

The event blends seasonal celebration with purposeful impact, gathering community leaders, professionals, and changemakers to sip, network, and support a mission rooted in surrounding youth with the mentorship, love, and leadership they need to thrive.

Guests will enjoy hand-crafted holiday cocktails, light bites, and the contemporary art-filled backdrop of 21c’s Main Gallery while learning how they can support The Village’s mission. A portion of proceeds from select cocktails will go directly to the nonprofit, which works year-round to create safe spaces, leadership opportunities, and mentorship programming for youth in our region.
Will you join us?

I want to personally thank everyone who has ever mentored, volunteered, donated, or supported The Village Past, Present, or Future… this is God’s Work and I THANK YOU and i invite you back into the fold.

One week ago today, The Village celebrated its 10 years of incorporation and 15 years of service in St. Louis. We started in faith at Prince of Peace Church with two young men has grown truly beyond me to a movement that mentored over 150 young men last school year alone.

Thank you to our board members and all of our SPONSORS big and small for making the health and wellness of black boys a priority.

Thank you to community activists John Bowman for being our keynote speaker and his amazing wife for blessing us with a song. He said “We have to work together, and it’s going to take all of us.”

Big Thank you to th marketing & Media services of @media_relations_girl.

We believe that extending an honest hand to the next generation is how we stop violence in our community. (Both domestic and gun)

The Village is proud to present the Pride in Action Award to Dr. Fredrick Echols, a physician, military veteran, and global public health leader whose courage, authenticity, and commitment to equity shine brightly.

From serving our nation in the U.S. military to leading health departments, advancing disaster recovery at FEMA, and expanding access to life-saving stroke care worldwide, Dr. Echols has dedicated his life to building healthier, safer, and more equitable communities.

Beyond the global stage, he pours into the next generation right here at home, mentoring young Black men through The Village and inspiring pride in community, culture, and self.

We are honored to celebrate his impact at our 10-Year Anniversary Fundraiser on October 18th. 🖤✨

The Village originated from the personal efforts of its current CEO, Kenan D. Morrison, who began by mentoring two siblings at Prince of Peace Church originally located in the Jeff Vander-Lou neighborhood. What started informally in 2010 grew to a group of 15 boys, supported by community mentors who served as role models. In 2015, The Village became an official 501(c)(3), formalizing its vision and structure. Since then, the organization has grown steadily - today serving more than 150 young men annually from the St. Louis metropolitan area. What began with a weekend program has expanded to include both in-school mentoring and caregiver support programs. Partnerships with schools, universities, other nonprofits, and businesses have multiplied, enriching programming and expanding reach.

Dinner tonight was nothing short of fabulous — fierce fashion, unforgettable laughs, and the kind of company that makes your soul shine.

“Friendship isn’t about who you’ve known the longest; it’s about who walked into your life and said, ‘I’m here for you’—and proved it.”

Surround yourself with people who lift you higher.

Cheers to elegance, excellence, and enduring bonds.
