A great shoot with @wordsfromthewillow which included dog walkers, poop bags, a badly bruised shin (mine not anyone else’s I should add, thank you @nikoneurope for making a virtually unbreakable camera), some garden chairs and a lot of wind (weather not the other kind!). They are just starting out, so give them a follow.
Thank you for a very fun shoot @evajones.1234 and @elenacelloo

I knew very little about Max Ernst before visiting the new exibition at Chaumont-sur-Loire.
As we walked through the gallery I became more and more drawn to his work and intrigued by his life at his retreat, close to Chinon in the Touraine.
I was surprised to find that this surrealist artist also gleaned much inspiration from nature, which of course resonated with me.
As the interpretation read:

“ For Max Ernst, nature is never reduced to the representation of a landscape. Forests, gardens and organic or mineral formations become territories of transformation, where the outside world merges with dreams, memory and the imagination.
Through paintings, sculptures, tapestries, collages and frottages, De natura reveals a shifting, mysterious, sometimes unsettling nature, forever in transformation. A nature not only as it is seen, but above all as it is experienced, dreamed and inwardly transformed. "

I enjoyed the exhibition so much that suddenly I realised that we were about the last there, so we tore ourselves away and re-entered the dusky but beautifully lit grounds of the Chateau to join the other invitees for some chat and🥂!
A truly fabulous evening event - we'll be back to see more of the exhibition - definitely a case of once is not enough! Grateful thanks to all concerned ! ✨

And thank you for the music @omnempathy

This year someone called me a poet for the first time ever. I quite liked the idea.
So here, for National Poetry Day 2026, is part of some spoken word I wrote for
Norfolk Saltmarsh: a fragile world
photography exhibition which happened over the summer.

It’s from the soundscape track Sanctuary. If you want to hear the whole thing check out Bandcamp, Spotify and other streaming services. Search Saltmarsh Project Sanctuary.

Pinkfoot geese in great flocks high in the sky,
Moving In raggedy skeins
Like strands of unravelling knitting,
A legion of squeaky cries.
Tiny sky-dots in the distance,
Then so near I can hear their thrumming wingbeats.

A curlew hiding in plain sight
Feather and mud blending,
Hearing its bubbling cadence
I know I am heart-home.

The natural world
Just for a moment
Makes my heart sing.
My anxiety finds refuge
Here in this place.
I am part of nature. It is part of me.

I'm very pleased to be able to offer limited edition copies of this image as part of a fundraiser for the Association of Photographers' amazing initiative to bring a community of photographers back together again under one roof!
An IRL hub of creativity. A club. A drop in. Somewhere to meet, greet and share ideas.
If you'd like to be part of this exciting new development in the history of the AOP check out any of their platforms via @assocphoto
Oh and the car, in case you are wondering, is a 1971 Ford L T D Brougham Hartop Coupe. The Peacock I believe was Eric 🦚

Beautiful plants and beautiful people
at The Botaniques @domainedechaumontsurloire this weekend

Such a wonderfully atmospheric location to meet like-minded plant and garden loving friends whilst enjoying the plants for sale. All so beautifully presented with such care.

Lectures in the tent began with friend & expert of the senses, @pascalgarbe who explored the world of floral perfune.
So many nurseries to peruse and owners to chat to.

Just a few paces away it was hard to resist a visit to experimental The Tourbillon Garden designed by @bettinajaugstetter , @cassianschmidt & @annalena_hahn .
A bonus for the day to meet them all there with Anna’s husband Luigi too, shown caring for our long suffering dachshund Tansy-Buttons !

So many smiling faces. So many happy plants. A great day ! Thank you to all involved.

Pressure points: the body as a contact sheet

‘This is the body in which my life happened.’

Pressure Points began with the square of residue left by an medicated patch. I started noticing other temporary marks across my body: pressure from clothing, irritation, folds, stretch marks and the impressions left by objects against the skin.

“My body, my companion, which is always sending its signals.”
Virginia Woolf. (1931) The Waves. London: The Hogarth Press.

The work is a self portrait series looking at the marks left on the female body by treatment, clothing, ageing, expectation and change, and at what a photograph can reveal when true experience cannot be seen.

Pressure Points was included in the Uncanny Feminine exhibition, Manchester Metropolitan University, August 2026.

“Unlike traditional works of art, the postcard requires nothing more than a stamp for it to be seen on the other side of the world. The only artistic restriction: that it fits through a letterbox. Postcards invite handling, asking to be picked up, turned over, and shown to friends – to be included in our lives.”
The art collector Jeremy Cooper, from his book ‘The World Exists to be put on a postcard’ @thamesandhudson
I am a big fan of the humble postcard. A collector of sorts, I enjoy the uniformity created by reducing artworks to the same scale. How works both modest and grand can be seen as equal. And I have always enjoyed the process of creating postcards, and do so regularly from my work. I am delighted that three of my recent works are included in the CORRESPONDANCES postcard exhibition in Paris. Created by @the.curators at their project space on Rue Meslay, the exhibition continues until the auction and closing event on 5th September.

1. Spot the postcards
2. En route
3-5. Three postcards from 'The Woman Who Fell To Earth' project are showing in the exhibition.
6. My very first postcard, circa 1990. Posted to every gallery, magazine and picture editor that I could find an address for. I can still recall my surprise and excitement on spotting it displayed on the mantelpiece at the Zelda Cheatle gallery! 🙏Thank you again @cheatlezelda that meant so much to a young aspiring photographer x

Grateful thanks to Jenny, Shaun and Woody for the very warm welcome to Dark Star Plants in North Yorkshire for my photo-shoot. A modern-day nursery and flower farm with a gothic influence and old fashioned commitment to plants, people, knowledge and care. As you will guess from the name they specialise in plants with flowers and foliage in broodingly moody shades, as @jaynedowle1 writes so eloquently for the August issue of @theenglishgardenmagazine .
The walled garden also has a fascinatingly rich horticultural history and cut-your-own flower beds include brighter plants for arrangements, such as Ammi majus and snapdragons. So lovely to see you again and the nursery thriving !
Featured in these pictures are :
1. Cosmos atrosanguineus 'Chocamocha'
2. Rosa 'Rhapsody in Blue'
3. Salvia 'Love and Wishes'
4. Tricytis formosana 'Empress'
5. Sanguisorba officinalis
Big thank you to Editor, Clare Foggett for the commission and to Jeremy Bird for bringing the work together so beautifully.
