📜 Official Proclamation — Miami-Dade County

WHEREAS the Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners proudly recognizes Tiffany Madera, born and raised in Miami, who has dedicated her life to the transformative power of art—working as a filmmaker, dancer, and cultural producer to uplift stories at the intersections of gender, diaspora, and identity;

WHEREAS Ms. Madera is a pioneering artist whose vision has been shaped by her Cuban heritage and Miami’s multicultural landscape, using art as both personal expression and a tool for healing, resilience, and community engagement;

WHEREAS her groundbreaking documentary Havana Habibi represents more than a decade of creative labor—blending ethnographic storytelling, dance, and cinema to explore Cuban women’s lived experiences of violence, trauma, survival, and belonging;

WHEREAS Havana Habibi stands as a testament to Ms. Madera’s commitment to amplifying women’s voices across borders, uniting themes of spirituality, art, and geopolitics while offering audiences an intimate portrait of Cuba rooted in tenderness, respect, and aesthetic depth;

WHEREAS through her extraordinary contributions to the cultural life of Miami-Dade County and beyond, Ms. Madera has elevated the role of art in bridging communities, sparking dialogue, and healing intergenerational wounds;

✨ THEREFORE, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, together with Chairman Anthony Rodriguez and the Members of the Board of County Commissioners, hereby proclaim:

This month marks 2 years since I left my Home. Alot of you watch along thinking its all fun and games but just letting you know someone did lose an eye . Its been absolutely excruciating to leave something I worked on relentlessly for over a decade with blood sweat and tears . Im still facing my fears and my own reflection & still have a long way to go but I have not given up on being authentic, being kind and fighting for my Peace of mind. I wanted to say thankyou to the friends that gave me a home when i didnt know where else to go and guided me with advice to give me strength to keep going . Yall carried me Home and give me strength❤️ I love you so much and Im so grateful you believed in me and knew there was always something better out here for me than where I was at. I have not given up on creating My Peace & Joy & Home. Im Just finding my eye again 📸😘❤️ #New Chapter #homeplate #iwillnotgiveup #lovewins #thelightwecarry #fijistyle

Fantastic Open Studio! Had so many warm interactions today and I’m inspired by the excitement around art in South Atlanta. If you missed today, come by at 11am tomorrow for my artist talk. I’ll be discussing current work and answering questions. Let’s have a conversation.

Next door at 12pm @corrinasephora.metalartist will host a demo in her metal shop.

Thank you to everyone who came by to see my new space. Special thanks to @southfultonarts & @south_of_center_art_experience for producing this event. 💗
