a daughter allowing herself to shape her own destiny.

as the world converges

into a night so dark and weary, my love for the sky emerges from within me. like a phoenix born anew.

from ashes of a past grief that i believed was long forgotten, i feel it rise within me. the stars look down upon my form. prone and ready for battle. a battle not of physical bodies, but of entire realms that are mental.

i have found that the stars are just like me. they conduct a search of a life of their own. illuminated by their own glow, they embroider the fabric of faceless dark.

a new world emerges. and i rise beyond it. and i find a new way to live. the stars and i have become one.

This is my July contribution to the #firstlinepoets 🌎project, an incredible collaborative that was created by @emmajanepoetry with group curators @cate_mcminn @life_and_light_poetry , and @noellewritespoetry . I am late to the chase this month. I am incredibly grateful to this group and fellow poet, the incredibly talented @facadeofwords for the beautiful lines “the earth makes her braids out of grass“ ❤️ Being part of this group brings me a lot of joy and is chalk ful of incredible talent! This prompt resonated with me, a summer soul and made me think of last year’s trip to Aruba. Much love to you all!💜🌸 #poeticreveries_ #poeticsoul #poetry #poetsofinstagram

My take on the prompts brought to you @facadeofwords and @the.chaotic_urbanpoet for the April Collaboration Prompts day 16: "I can't romanticize seasons anymore" / "Balloons and flowers, but open conversations and understanding"

They are all over the place and unsettling
Childish and foolish mettling
Not able to forecast, unruly
Showing up unannounced, precariously
Phil is a liar and he knows it *
His shadow always blows it
Weather is never good
It's a forecast, that's understood
Small ways to show you care
But even that minimum is bare
Sometimes the thought doesn't count
No matter the amount
Remember your communication
It is more than self-preservation
Don't be fairwether and foolish!

* Punxsutawny Phil as he relates to why we can romanticize the seasons, because of the question nature of his shadow as it relates to the weather.

This month for the @firstlinepoets project, we were asked to write a piece inspired by an older piece we’ve written for the project. Being a part of FLP for 5 years made it difficult to choose, but I was inspired by a piece I wrote in August of 2025 (slide 2), when my partner @facadeofwords gave me the lines “time lapse” and “a wish that lingers.” This is my 73rd piece for the project!

Thank you for reading🤍🦋✨🤍

📸: slide 3 and 4 are my own

Thank you to @emmajanepoetry and @cate_mcminn for leading the project and our Angelou group of First Line Poets🤍

Midnight starlight blinking blindly
Observed by those who choose to live wisely
Fading nebula signal across generations
Praying their plight will not be beyond vision
The trees whisper forgotten secrets in silence
Trusting earthly connections to share their truthful essence
Pebbles in the sand toss, turn and tumble
Repeatedly battered in a watery rumble
Tangled threads of emotions join in the motions
Desperate to be at one with the deepest oceans
From the tiniest organism to complex collaboration
Life is a miracle deserving of adoration
