Happy 1st birthday to @factorynoir's REPUTATION! 🥳🎉 Released on this day in 2025. Scoring this film (and official trailer - swipe to see) was so much fun! 🎬🎵 Working with the team was an absolute delight, and I'm proud to have been asked back by director Martin Law to score his next feature film, ASPHYXIA (release TBA) 🎞️🍿
Reputation hit number 8 in the @primevideo UK charts, up amongst some HUGE films. In great company! If dark crime drama is your thing, Reputation hits all the targets 📺👀

The winner of the #NWIFF26 BEST NORTH WEST FILM award....

Blue Felt - Directed by Paddy Clarke

One evening, after too much tiny wine, Rat Head, a scouse rat puppet abandoned by his creator, felts a small face to try and curb his crushing loneliness. However, he accidentally imbues a bit of his own soul into the face and brings it to life.

"A sincere and beautifully created animation with a great mix of reality and the animated world. The film balances drama and comedy while exploring timeless themes of acceptance and the right to exist... Applying various film techniques adds new layers to the narrative where deep yet funny themes are intertwined in a brilliant way."

Congratulations again, @paddy_clarke!

What a weekend! 🎬

A huge thank you to everyone who made #NWIFF26 such a great event.

To every filmmaker who trusted us with their work, every audience member who bought a ticket, @theferretpreston for hosting and helping bring the festival to life – thank you 🙏

Over the weekend we screened an incredible selection of British short films, welcomed talented filmmakers from across the country, and saw film lovers turn out to celebrate independent cinema right here in Preston.

The standard of films this year was exceptional, and we’re proud to have showcased such an inspiring collection of work.

Now it’s time to catch our breath… before we start planning NWIFF27.

See you next year. 🎥

Following the success of Reputation (2024), now available on Amazon and Apple, @wlv_film lecturer Martin Law (@factorynoir ) has begun production on his latest feature, ‘Asphyxia’

Students from BA (Hons) Film Production and MA Film programmes have been involved as trainees throughout the shoot, taking on a range of trainee roles and gaining invaluable on-set experience of a professional film crew.

Our students have absolutely loved it and planning their own short films over the summer

🎥 ASPHYXIA 🎥

This past week, I got the incredible opportunity to finally work on my first feature film project as a Runner/ Production Assistant. The project in question is “Asphyxia”, the upcoming Psychosexual Thriller from @factorynoir

All the thank yous in the world to the cast and crew for welcoming me into the team and guiding me through the filmmaking process as a true first timer. Hearing the technical and business insight from you guys was amazing to listen to.

Shoutout to my fellow runner Ryan (@hotcoffeeproductions), couldn’t have done this week without you, true dynamic duo there.

It’s been a true rollercoaster of emotions, and to have had the chance to work on a feature, and see the love, craft and passion on set in every department, it shows the true value of what makes movies such a special art form.

Stay tuned for when the film comes out…
