Today my son raced at school with his classmates, and I don’t think people understand how emotional moments like this are for parents of children with disabilities. You spend years worrying if your child will feel included, accepted, seen, or understood. Then one day you stand on the sidelines watching them smile, compete, laugh with friends, and simply belong. That moment means everything. Parenting a child in a wheelchair teaches you that inclusion, kindness, adaptive sports, disability awareness, and community can change a child’s confidence forever.
