Some names deserve more than a scroll-past. We rendered a few of Pakistan’s most important artists in ink, gold, and line — a small tribute to the people who built this history.

Hard to believe it’s been over a month since my solo exhibition, Halcyon Waves took place @fobcofficial ☺️ As I reflect on all the wonderful conversations we had and everyone’s thoughtful responses to the work, I just wanted to take a moment to personally thank everyone who made it to the exhibition in person and those who supported me here and from afar. It meant so much to me that each and every one of you took out the time to experience this show in the flesh, to support me and hold space for one another, and pay tribute to my beloved father in this beautiful chapel. The show was an incredibly moving experience for me and a pivotal moment in my career, enriching my personal life as I worked through feelings of grief through colour and repetitive mark-making. Thank you so much for being a part of this journey, and I hope the experience left you feeling uplifted too🫶🏽🤍🙏🏽

For those of you who couldn’t make it, I would be happy to send you the e-catalogue. DM if you’d like to see it - not the same of course, but would be the next best thing!

Thank you again to the wonderful @cath_erine_li and @fobcofficial for having me 🫶🏽🤍🙏🏽

📍 TORONTO | OPENING NIGHT

Thank you to everyone who joined us as we opened JOURNEY OF THE MIND in Toronto at Campbell House Museum.

It was wonderful to gather with so many familiar and new faces to experience the exhibition together.

Across the evening, visitors explored the works at their own pace, shared thoughtful conversations, paused in quiet moments and spent time considering ideas of focused practice, community and inner steadiness.

We’re deeply grateful to all of the artists, collaborators, friends, families and visitors who helped make the evening so meaningful. Watching people make the exhibition their own through conversation, contemplation and shared experience has been incredibly special for all of us.

AINA Gallery is delighted to announce its inaugural show, Other Stories—A Genealogy for the Present.

Opening in our new Chelsea home on October 1, the exhibition takes Rasheed Araeen’s groundbreaking 1989 Hayward Gallery show, The Other Story, as a critical aperture through which to reconsider the present.

At its historical core are five artists who participated in that landmark exhibition—Rasheed Araeen, Avinash Chandra, Aubrey Williams, Anwar Jalal Shemza, and Francis Newton Souza. The exhibition expands its geography through Ernest Mancoba, Mohan Samant, Krishna Reddy, and Zarina Hashmi, positioning New York alongside London as a vital site in the development of transnational modernism in the Global South.

These foundational figures are brought into dialogue with artists represented by AINA today—Rekha Rodwittiya, Surendran Nair, Veer Munshi, Sujith SN, Faiza Butt, Khadim Ali, Peju Alatise, Victor Ekpuk, Rachid Koraïchi, and Saad Qureshi—tracing how subsequent generations have inherited and expanded the categories through which artistic identity and significance are understood.

As we open the doors to AINA Gallery at 550 West 29th Street, we continue our longstanding commitment to modern and contemporary art from South Asia and the wider Global South.

there’s something incredibly special about getting to spend day and night with Faiza’s creations at the Pakistan Pavilion in Venice this year – witnessing its return after seven years, experiencing the pavilion at different hours, and seeing just how much thought has gone into every detail. So proud of @faizaaugust7 and what she has created here.
