Volume II. Fourteen of them, ranked by how far the word has drifted.

You wrote the ones with names on them — @the_chaross, @philip.hamblet, @fallingsteel, @evantyndall_, @mbonlklanier, @teppo458.

Tag whoever says "quick turn." They will not recognise themselves and that is the point.

Volume III is built from the last slide. Corrections in the comments — there will be corrections.

🇬🇧 Some of you might have seen this coming. I would like to start a short series focused on micro pistols from the Czech lands, and it only makes sense to begin with the DUO pistol.

The name “DUO” comes from Dušek and Opočno. František Dušek was the founder of the company, and Opočno is the town in the Czech Republic where the pistol was produced.

Like many others of its time, the DUO followed the strong demand for compact pocket pistols inspired by the legendary FN 1906 design by John Moses Browning in caliber .25 ACP.

One notable difference in the DUO design was the absence of a grip safety. Since its introduction in 1936, thousands of these pistols were produced. In 1948, the company was nationalized by the communist regime and later integrated into Zbrojovka Brno and subsequently Česká zbrojovka. Production of these pistols continued under different markings until the late 1960s.

František Dušek passed away in the 1950s in poverty.

The piece shown in the photo has non original grips and you can also notice the added wooden piece on the bottom of the magazine for better grip. This pistol was made in the final year of production before the company was nationalized.

🇨🇿 Někteří z vás to možná čekali. Rád bych odstartoval krátkou sérii zaměřenou na mikropistole z českých zemí a začít nemůžu jinak než pistolí DUO.

Název „DUO“ vznikl spojením jména Dušek a města Opočno.

Výroba pokračovala pod různými označeními až do konce 60. let.

František Dušek zemřel v 50. letech v chudobě.

Konkrétní kus má neoriginální střenky a vylepšený grip přidáním dřeva na botku zásobníku. Pochází z posledního roku výroby před znárodněním firmy.

🇬🇧 Let’s play a game: how many pistols can you fit in one hand? As you might expect, all of these were made in the Czech Republic, and I will prepare a more detailed post about each of them later. But just for the record: one is clearly a CZ 92 in .25 Auto caliber (6.35 Browning), another is a DUO (Dušek Opočno), also in 6.35 caliber, and the third is a KEVIN from ZVI Vsetín in .380 Auto (9mm Browning). So the magic number is three pistols in one hand. What’s yours?
