I cannot believe I asked for this! But 57 miles and 5900 feet later--I was still standing! Shout out to the "Billy Goats" who let me tag along! And yes--I was moving THAT slow! The surprise 15% elevation made me cuss!

IMCA Run 26.2 miles

I rolled right up to the dismount line and now it’s time to run. Into to T2, at the rack and trying to squeeze between the 2 bikes racked next to mine and I hear “1011, Ma’m, I’m gonna need you to get moving” without looking up I say “I’m sorry, I’m trying..” She then asks what I need, sees my struggle and grabs the front of my bike just as I get the nose of my small saddle on the bar. I look up and realize it Petriece Culberson from @fastchix1_ Ok let’s go! Grab my run bag, bottle off my bike to sip and THANK YOU! Into the changing tent as I figured it would be easier and cooler there than sitting on the hot turf near my bike to change. Quick top off, pull my salt tab container to the side and tell the woman I am going to grab and go the bag as I stuff my bike gear in. Then I start to pull and leave some items and decide let me just do this right here… spibelt and bib belt on, grab my ears telling her “Yes, I am wearing these” run shoes and sunglasses on, let’s go. On the way out of T2 there are two large tubs of ice water to dip your arms in and I do so knowing it’s almost 90 degrees at the start of the run along with stuffing ice in my bra. I see my dad ringing a huge cowbell. He tells me he saw me come off the bike but I did not see him. I hug him and get going. I have my 4:1 run:walk intervals set just as I had in training but IDK what that first 4 minutes was. I hear Gwendolyn Lipford-Strutchen in my head “If it’s not shaking you, it’s not shaping you. Then, next thing I know I see Jen Myers & Amy and she has a message from @turtlebab22 . I started running and said “Wait, I’m supposed to be walking right now”. The reflux from the bike carries over to the run. I decided if I needed to walk more to let that settle then do it and try to get some water and coke at the stops until it eases. Better to take a little extra time now and start a little slower than to suffer the entire time. (Rest in comments)

IMCA Bike 112 miles
Into T1 and I tried to be swift. Alright, Bennua, let’s go! 🔥 I heard and saw Jen & Amy at the start of the bike. I knew to be smart… don’t go out too hard… warm into it but LETS GO!! I felt comfortable and confident even though my feet were frozen and needed to thaw from the swim. I spoke to and encouraged every person I passed. On your left, you’re doing great…nice job…keep it up. I knew where the cracky bumpy roads were. Around 6 miles in we make a slight left and go up a little hill. Just as I started to make that turn a huge bird came flying down from my left and landed to the right of me. It was a peacock! Wow! (The rest in comments)

JOB FINISHED. 🫡 that was the mantra. I made a crazy commitment to ME, and kept it. I am grateful for the amazing humans that tapped in the last 10 months, and for everyone else that didn’t judge me for tapping out of most all things that didn’t get me across this finish line!
