🎉THREE BILLS PASSED —THREE MAJOR WINS

Today, the @NYCCouncil passed THREE of my bills advancing housing stability, protections for survivors, and cultural recognition!

🏡 Intro 978 | SCRIE & DRIE Expansion Act — Raising the income eligibility limit from $50,000 to $75,000 to expand rent protections for older adults and New Yorkers with disabilities.

💜 Intro 296 | Gender-Based Violence Transparency Act — Strengthening data collection, healthcare screenings, and public transparency to better support survivors.

🎶 Res. 625 | Reggaeton Heritage Month — Recognizing October as Reggaeton Heritage Month and celebrating the genre’s global cultural impact.

A special thank you to @SpeakerMenin, my Council colleagues, our advocates, and community partners who helped make this progress possible!

Three bills. Three meaningful steps forward. And we’re just getting started! 💪🏾🎉

“We live in a crazy world, caught up in a rat race. Concrete jungle life is sometimes a mad place...”

Living in heated times, we have few chances to cool down, and these opportunities to get together and celebrate are precious and essential.

Many thanks to the fabulous teams at FDC, Cortelyou Radio, and all their collaborators who make the Flatbush Frolic and Main Stage performances possible each year. We were so happy to celebrate the energy, accomplishments, and possibilities that make up the fabric of the greater Flatbush community. Thank you for inviting us to be part of the festivities once again. Bravo to all the performers, and many, many thanks to all of you who came out to Frolic with us!

We still have space available in fall Ballet, Tap, Pointe, Creative Dance, Jazz, Modern, Toddler Tuesdays, and our Dance Explorers After-School Program for anyone feeling continuously confined and looking for a place where anyone can be anything. Join us!

Fun times hanging at the @fdconline Flatbush Frolic last weekend! It’s always so special to share my work with my neighbors, and I really appreciate everyone who bought some art from me!

In other news, I’ve got some new prints dropping this week, including the one I’m holding in this picture! Stay tuned! ✌️😎🙀

It’s been a busy weekend off for #bloomiesbear… first off, they wandered the #flatbushfolic with @offbalance80 & me… before stopping by @taylorcobooks & hanging with Andrew and a very chill capybara, pondering the sociophilosophical dimensions of Green Lantern lore…

Then to the big event.. @rmkeville ‘s bday dinner at @morgansbrooklynbbq !!! The great food and laughter kept on coming!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MATT!!!

Then Sunday, a trip up a rainy Hudson to hang with Mom!!! Flowers by @damselflyflowers , and views of a beautiful rainy day thanks to our big river!!!

Scrabble scores… yeah, nothing to report.

Back home, l’il bear… and back to work today!!!!!
