I am incredibly humbled and honored to serve on the FDEO (Florida Dance Educators Organization) Board as we continue the conversation around dance, dance and education.

Thank you to everyone who came out to participate, share, learn, and support our beautiful community of dance educators here in Florida during our Day of Development. A special thank-you to our Chair, Jermaine, and our new Board President, Ellie, for an outstanding weekend of dance education, including the inspiring panel discussion, “From Modern to Contemporary: Sustaining the Legacy.”

Here’s to continuing the work, inspiring the next generation, and building lasting legacies through dance! 💙✨

During my years as a professor, I was blessed to be cast in, commission, or reconstruct six poignant and powerful duets. If it were at all humanly possible (and financially feasible), I would perform them all again. But, until those dream comes true, I have two more glorious moments to dance one of them.

Jessica Gilmore and I will perform the duet from Pioneer Winter Collective’s “Birds of Paradise” twice within the span of two months, in two different cities, in two different states.

The Miami, FL performance takes place as part of the 16th Annual Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler at 8 pm, Saturday, October 17. The Dance Sampler is produced by the Florida Dance Education Organization in collaboration with Miami Dance Futures, Dance NOW! Miami, and New World School of the Arts. Tickets can be purchased in-person on the evening of the performance at the New World School of the Arts (25 NE 2nd Street, 8th floor). But I suggest purchasing in advance at www.dancenowmiami.org, because the Dance Sampler sells out. @fdeodance #miamidancefutures @dancenowmiami @daniellewisdance

The New York City performance happens in the historic Judson Memorial Church (55 Washington Square South, NY, NY 10012) as part of the Small Plates Choreography Festival 2026 on Saturday, November 14. Small Plates NYC, a two-day festival (November 13 and 14), offers two nights of diverse performances. For tickets, go to www.smallplatesdance.com. #judsonmemorialchurch @smallplatesdance

Title: “Birds of Paradise” (duet)
Company: Pioneer Winter Collective @thepioneerwinter
Music: Dani F. Amaro @amar.is.online and Diego Melgar @diegounchained
