I’m so happy to announce that my first EP, “Reflections,” is out today!

The 5 compositions that make up this record are just that… reflections. They came from a space of using music to access parts of my experience in this life that I’m still not quite able to put into words.

Over the next few weeks I hope to share a little more about each tune, but today I want to talk about the first track, “Tomorrow”.

When I first played in Saal 3 at Funkhaus, I was completely taken by the sound I heard in my headphones (shoutout @antioniopulli!)—the twinkling highs, warm mids, and deep bass. It moved me in a way that brought me back to a moment during the pandemic, when after months of not playing, I finally sat down at the instrument again and felt this deep sense of release and hope.

I improvised for a few minutes from that place, and “Tomorrow” came out of it.

For me, this piece holds both uncertainty and isolation of that time, and the reminder that there is still space for beauty within it. Making this music has been one way of trying to better understand my own experience, and to hopefully grow through that process.

The world gives us so many reasons to close off in fear, but it also gives us love, which helps us find each other, build community, and keep moving through so much suffering. I think “Tomorrow” lives somewhere in that hope.

uyir, untranslatable as a word, Tamil for life-breath;
meenakshi, the goddess with eyes of a fish, who teaches us the ways of water in times of drowning. grimm, for her father’s family and the stories they carried into this world, for her father, who dreamt of her the first day he spent with me. this man is either arrogant or prophetic, I remember thinking to myself quietly. he perhaps is both, I’d learnt— the line between confidence and prophecy thins in a world without faith.

I am changed and unchanged. I ask for your blessings to be changed in the right ways and unchanged in what should remain

A project paying homage to sampling culture wouldn't be complete without a hip hop feature, and few come more legendary than Black Star's Talib Kweli, who provides a lyrical freestyle verse on ‘DEEP NOTE’. Named in tribute to formative rap collective Mobb Deep, the track features a melancholic piano sample from Petter that plays out over the shuffling swing of Noah's ride cymbal-sizzling drum rhythm, producing two minutes of groove-based storytelling.⁠

We’re stoked to welcome NOAH X PETTER to the LEITER family — and to share that their collaborative EP, ‘DRIFT’, arrives on November 6.⁠

Acclaimed for his improvisational agility, @PetterEldh is a Swedish bassist and producer who’s spent the past two decades on the fertile fringes of Europe’s jazz scene, working with the likes of Kit Downes, Otis Sandsjö, the avant-garde group ØKSE, and his own projects Koma Saxo and Projekt Drums. Providing the rhythmic backbone and kinetic energy for German Jazz Award-winning @MosesYoofeeTrio’s three releases to date, drummer @Noah_Fuerbringer_ has become a key anchoring point in the Berlin jazz scene.⁠

On their debut collaborative project, the duo perfect their sampling expertise to produce six tracks of self-referential, career-spanning creations that break new ground across jazz, head-nodding hip-hop, frenetic beats and textural electronics.⁠
