When we arrive at the Winter Solstice, we sit though the longest night of the year. From here, the days start to get longer and the promise of the return of light acts as our guide.

The winter is our time to rest and reorganize. Rest is our birthright and so is freedom. We use this time to rest our bodies and expand our minds through daydreaming and co-imagining sustainable futures with our community.

In this way, we are able to take the necessary time to plan and take informed and organized actions toward the future we desire.

There are horrific things happening across the globe right now as a direct result of a too long history of colon!zat!on, cap!tal!sm, and greed. As we turn our eyes toward one g3noc!de, we are also shown the multiple g3noc!des that are happening at the same time, along with ch!ld lab0r, modern day slav3ry, and more.

AND as we uplift the many voices of those unheard, we take MASSIVE steps toward collective l!berat!on. We are at a moment in time where it matters more than ever how you show up.

We hope you can use this time to evaluate your actions and see how you show up, who you show up for, and what your role is in building a better future.

To our fellow EarthKeepers who remain silent: Your silence will not save you. Everything you see in the news right now can be pointed back to a land rights issue, a human rights issue, a food sovereignty issue, a justice issue, a Black Farmer issue.... and because these things are deeply linked, it matters how YOU show up. Your silence is dangerous, loud, and telling. The state of the Earth is your concern. We are each other's concern.

It's fitting that the final flowers in bloom are fresh white cosmos and bright orange marigolds. This is this season of death, grief, and transformation.

We grow these ceremonial flowers, so that we can lay them on our altars and and pay our respects to our dead.

This year, we invite you each to come tuck our farm in with us and pay respects to the land, our ancestors, and the journey this growing season took us on.

Though this may feel like a sad and heavy time, we do this so that our community has an opportunity to transmute grief into liberation, joy, and peace.

We will be gathering around the fire with hot cider, swapping seeds and stories, and will be honoring our past with meaningful conversations about a sustainable future.

We believe that one of the greatest acts of r3sistance we can engage in is the reclaiming of our connection to the great outdoors.

Some of the first acts of injustice carried out separated us from land.

This continued separation only serves to uphold the structures that are in place to keep us from moving forward.

We are Black People who design spaces for growth and encourage reconnection to soil and the outdoors.

We carry this history with us. Get back outside with us!
