Insanely surreal to see a 3D model you’ve been staring at for months, discussing every detail, every curve, every little element, suddenly become a real, glowing object standing under the sun on the playa.

There’s something magical about watching an idea leave the screen and come to life in the dust. ✨

Still taking it all in.

Every artist knows that bringing art to the playa comes with its share of challenges, unexpected turns, and plenty of ups and downs.

So proud of this team for navigating it all together, supporting each other through every moment, and never losing sight of the vision.

And then comes that moment when you finally see your art standing on the playa, fully alive. Somehow, all the hard days, long hours, and challenges feel completely worth it. ❤️🔥

Grateful for this amazing group of beautiful humans coming together to create this piece of art 🫶🏻 we couldn’t have done it without the support of our friends and loved ones. Also, missing two of our design team members whose absence was felt deeply @esphid @rahakamrava
Yet we had the talented @gurublue.co to help document everything so smoothly 🫶🏻

Finally, our project made it to the Playa. 🥹✨
Glorious in the sunlight, mesmerizing at night.
After months of hard work, countless hours of 3D printing, CNCing, laser cuttin, and many days of assembling and disassembling, we finally made it.
Seeing it standing here feels surreal. ❤️
Stay tuned for more photos and videos!

Summer fun! 🤩 We were thrilled to welcome two incredible interns to the studio this summer! Makoto and Angie were energetic and skilled contributors to the studio. Working across various projects, they also helped launch our traveling exhibition to UVA @aschool_uva opening this week!) and beyond! Nataly and I want to say thank you to the whole team (Chris, Ki, Jared, Alex, Zahabiya, Ali, Angie, Makoto) and collaborators for their dedication, hard work and sense of humor! @makoto.komine100 @angestargram (ps: yes, all of our intern positions are paid, and always have been!) #dogpatchsf #madeinsf

Transforming a 3D Mandelbulb into a surface and designing it as a buildable structure has been an extensive journey in computational design, geometry, and digital fabrication. We have brainstormed various fabrication strategies for complex surfaces and structures, developed computational and geometric methods to generate external shells from point clouds, and extracted clean curves to translate intricate geometry into an accurate, buildable format.

This project has involved countless hours of computational problem-solving, overcoming digital fabrication challenges, refining lighting details, conducting tests, and participating in many large-group brainstorming sessions. We've worked diligently to transform a complex mathematical form into something we can fabricate and assemble at full scale.

An East Coast × West Coast collaboration for Burning Man🔥 I’m so excited to see our talented team’s project finally come to life on the Playa!

See you in the dust! 🤩✨
