First of all WHO KNEW THIS COULD HAPPEN??

A lot of you have been asking what happened, so I figured I’d put it all here. A little life update. A little PSA. A little plot twist absolutely nobody saw coming.

I’ve had cats my whole life. I have two now, and my girl is almost 20. I thought I was an experienced cat person. Apparently there was a chapter I missed. 😅🙃

I was attacked by a friend’s cat. Not a feral cat, so thankfully no rabies. But it turned into 1 urgent care visit, 2 ER visits, 3 doses of IV antibiotics, 2 oral antibiotics, and a foot I could barely walk on.

Definitely not on my bingo card. (and yes her human feels terrible and has been one of the ones helping me so much the last couple of weeks 🩷)

Even as someone in the healing field, I didn’t realize how serious this could get or how quickly I needed to act. And some of the personal stories y’all shared? Consider me thoroughly educated. 😳 (UTTERLY SHOCKED)

So that’s the PSA: please don’t mess around with a cat bite. Get prompt medical care. Even if you’ve had cats forever. Even if the cat has a name and a living room. Even if you think it’s just inflamed tissue and it will resolve on its own.

What followed was a crash course in receiving care, canceling plans, letting people help me, and developing qualifications nobody asked for in Band-Aids. 😭 I now know which ones stay on, which ones take your remaining skin with them, and which ones just plain suck.

This is a little peek into these past couple of weeks. Medical care, rest, the things I personally reached for to feel supported, and little moments of joy along the way. ☺️

Including some dancing. Because the second my foot started cooperating, we were back in business, baby!

And my son laying his little healing hands on me? Easily my favorite part of this whole mess.

I’m thankful I got care quickly. Thankful it wasn’t worse. Thankful I’m healing. And so deeply thankful for the friends and family who showed up and cared for me. Ya’ll really, really made a girl feel loved.

Usually I’m the one with my hands on everyone else. This time, I got to receive in abundance.
