📍 Honey Dirt Coffee Company (Ferndale, MI) Vibes: Honey Dirt started as a little coffee stand in the Rust Belt Market in Ferndale (if you have yet to visit this place, you really gotta especially if you like Michigan themed things, fun candles, or cute gifts to give others). Earlier this year they opened a brick-and-mortar coffee shop location also in Ferndale! When I went for the first time, it was a super poppin place with patrons of a variety of backgrounds like bikers, families with kids, and people with laptops like me. They have a whole table of their merch on full display, selling items from hats to camo shirts to their own coffee beans. The back wall has a large mural of their brand name and logo as well as “love all serve all” which makes for such a welcoming backdrop next to their giant coffee roaster on full display. They have different books and board games you can borrow while there. They also have 2 retro arcade games (Pacman and Mortal Kombat II) in the back that had a small line of kids waiting to play it after each other. They also have plants hanging from the ceiling which brings some nice vibrant green contrast into their space. Food: I ordered a hot mocha and my boyfriend ordered an iced latte. We both thought our drinks were pretty good and were prepared in a timely manner despite the coffee shop being absolutely packed. He also ordered a ham and cheese pastry that he immediately started eating before I had the chance to take a picture of it whole. They offer typical coffee shop drinks like cortados, americanos, espresso, old brew, cappuccinos, drip coffee, chai, matcha, teas, hot chocolate, other pastries and croissants. Workability: strong wifi, decent number of plugs. Depending on when you go, they might be super busy and thus loud but nothing some headphones can’t fix. They had a variety of seating which I found cool and gave the coffee shop some character; they had their basic wooden table and metal chairs which is where we sat, but they also had a cool red velvet couch in the back near the arcade games. This is your sign to visit their new storefront and support!
