From a major problem to a solid solution! 💪😎

The HowieBins team knows the right trades to bring a project together—and this greenhouse facility in beautiful Norfolk County was a perfect example!

Drainage was a primary concern, so it took a team effort to get things flowing in the right direction. 👇

🚜 Earthworks tackled the final grading and drainage issues.

🚛 HowieBins handled demolition, hauling, bin rentals, and removal of the existing breezeway tunnel connecting the greenhouse zones.

🦺 Rockway Custom Concrete took the lead on the new concrete breezeway and associated drainage work, with SEG Concrete lending a hand on the concrete.

🤝 Flatline Concrete played a huge role onsite, helping ensure the finished work met project requirements and the customer’s expectations.

The result? It came out like a dream! 🔥

Mandevilla and Dipladenia are essentially the exact same flower and same leaf.

The biggest difference is that Mandevilla will climb, which is why you usually see them for sale on a trellis, and Dipladenia is more of a lazy, droopy vine that will bush out the base of your Mandevilla - which can sometimes feel bare!

So if you’re buying a mandevilla centerpiece - be sure to buy 4-6 Dipladenia to plant around the base!

It’s been a busy week for our horticulture students as we near the end of the semester! Monday was a full field trip day packed with greenhouse insights and garden inspiration.

First stop: @whistlinggardens Even in dormancy, the evergreens offered a masterclass in winter interest. A huge thank you to Wanda and Darrin for the guided tour and your deep knowledge of the gardens!

Next, we visited @sawayagardens where Mel and Mel welcomed us for lunch and shared the incredible work behind their trial garden operations. It was inspiring to hear about Mel’s decades of experience in greenhouse production!

Our final stop: @fernleaflowers . We were blown away by the scale of this internal operation that supplies annuals across North America. Thank you to the Ferlnea team for making time to show us around during your busiest season!
