Menopause isn’t an ending. It’s a new chapter, and like every chapter, it comes with its own changes.

What makes the difference is not going through it alone. When women share their experiences and seek the right care, this stage becomes easier to understand and easier to live with.

Check in with yourself, and with the women you love.

Every stage of your life deserves care. 💕

||SohatWSahtein: AUB Legacy Ceremony 2026 ||

Attending the memorable AUB Legacy Ceremony: Honoring Families was a beautiful reminder that some bonds transcend generations.

As proud AUB alumni, Rony (FAFS ’98) and I (FAFS ’04, FHS ’08) were especially happy to celebrate this meaningful milestone as our daughter Chloe begins her own journey at the American University of Beirut.

AUB has been an important part of our story, shaping our paths and creating memories we will always cherish. Today, seeing Chloe embark on her own university journey makes our connection to this remarkable institution even more special.

Two generations. One shared belonging. A legacy that continues.

Here’s to Chloe’s new beginnings and to the many wonderful chapters ahead!

10 October was #worldmentalhealthday a reminder that mental health is health and must be a public health priority.

In #lebanon the need remains urgent. 110 people lost their lives to suicide in the first eight months of 2026, and 13.5% of surveyed Lebanese adolescents reported having considered suicide at least once. Yet only 5% of those who screened positive for a psychiatric disorder sought mental health support.

These figures highlight the importance of making mental health support more accessible and strengthening the place of mental health in Lebanon’s health system.

Addressing these challenges requires sustained policy action.

In 2013, the Knowledge to Policy (K2P) Center of the American University of Beirut identified mental health as a top policy priority through a priority-setting exercise with the Ministry of Public Health. In 2014, K2P published Lebanon’s first mental health policy brief and convened the country’s first national policy dialogue on mental health. Within six months, stakeholders established a national MHPSS taskforce, rolled out WHO mhGAP training in 45 primary health care centers, updated the national essential drug list to include psychiatric medications, and integrated mental health indicators into the MOPH Health Information System.

From evidence to action, mental health must remain a priority.

Different ways of reading. Different ways of processing. Same potential.

Through our Dyslexia Awareness activity, the Accessible Education Office (AEO) recreated some reading-related barriers experienced by students with dyslexia and other Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs) to promote understanding, accessibility, and inclusion.

If you are experiencing challenges related to SLDs or any other documented disability, don’t hesitate to reach out to the AEO to learn more about available support and accommodations.

Building Capacity for Responsible AI in Health Emergencies Across the Mediterranean!

The Institute of Community and Public Health at @birzeit.university successfully led the multinational training “AI for Health Emergencies: Foundations, Ethics and Responsible Use” on 7 October 2026, as part of the EU co-funded @medaigency project, under the @interregnextmed.

Bringing together over 105 participants across partner countries, the training combined in-person participation with instruction delivered by experts from partner institutions.

The training explored the potential of artificial intelligence to strengthen health emergency preparedness and response, while emphasizing ethical considerations, critical thinking, and responsible AI use.

Through this collaborative initiative, MEDAIGENCY continues to strengthen regional capacities, promote knowledge exchange, and support the responsible integration of AI into health emergency systems.

🇱🇧🇱🇧How can AI support health emergencies—before, during, and after a crisis?

On 7 October, MEDAIGENCY brought together more than 55 participants in Lebanon for the “AI for Health Emergencies: Foundations, Ethics and Responsible Use” one-day training.

Hosted in Lebanon by the Humanitarian Engineering Initiative at the American University of Beirut, the training connected healthcare professionals, first responders, and emergency management actors with participants in Italy, Palestine, Türkiye, and other countries.

From AI fundamentals to applications in preparedness, response, and recovery, participants explored what these technologies can offer, and the ethical questions that must guide their use.

With contributions from project partners, the programme combined AI literacy, crisis decision-making, and interactive discussions on responsible use.

Thank you to everyone who joined, including representatives of our Lebanese Stakeholder Board: the Lebanese Red Cross, Higher Relief Council, and Lebanese Civil Defense, and the Ministry of Public Health.

Together, we are building knowledge to support more informed engagement with AI in health emergencies.

A little something close to my heart today. 🤍

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of representing Lebanon and speaking in Copenhagen about the mental health and well-being of our generation.

And since today is World Mental Health Day, I thought I’d share a little part of my speech with you. 🥹

If there’s one thing growing up in Lebanon has taught me, it’s that we never really stop dreaming, creating, and finding ways to make things happen. And that’s something I’ll always be proud of. 🇱🇧

But I also think that sometimes, even the strongest people need a little reminder that they deserve to be heard, understood, and supported too.

So be gentle with yourself, check in on your people, and remember that you don’t have to have everything figured out. 🫶🏻

Sending you all a little extra love today. 🤍

As part of AUB’s HEI Certificate program, which focuses on critical thinking and problem-solving in humanitarian settings, OMSAR and a group of students came together for an exchange on public-sector reform and innovation.

During the discussion, OMSAR presented a practical public-sector challenge, which students explored from their diverse academic perspectives as part of their experiential learning. During their winter session, they will develop a prototype and present it to OMSAR at a later stage.

We look forward to seeing how their ideas develop and to continuing this exchange between academia and the public sector.

This World Mental Health Day, the Counseling Center invited AUB students to pause, reflect, and share what feeling okay means to them. Because mental health looks different for everyone, and checking in with ourselves matters.

Remember, you don’t have to have it all figured out to be okay. 💚

If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out to AUB’s Counseling Center (8:00AM-5:00 PM), AUBMC’s ER or the National Lifeline EMBRACE at 1564 (24/7).
