Accountant. Founder. Changemaker. Meet @fi_financial

Next up in our series celebrating the UK accounting community is Fi, the accountant behind @cocofinancial. She's spent the last ten years working for herself and standing up for small businesses.

Fi got into accounting through a Deloitte internship at university, rotating through tax, consulting and audit. It took her to a few places she didn't expect, including offshore oil tankers in her early 20s, hard hat and high vis included.

A few of her milestones so far:

🏆 Ten years self-employed. Fi went out on her own in 2016 and has been betting on herself ever since.

🏆 An invite to 10 Downing Street to help make sure small business voices are heard.

🏆 Launching @meetfineo, her tech company that helps accountants support their micro business clients. It's now live in the UK and Ireland.

Next, she's carrying on with what she loves most: championing small businesses.

Thanks for sharing your story, Fi. We're so glad to have you in our community 🙌

Colour-coded, time-blocked, and impossible to function without: @fi_financial's calendar tops her desk essentials list.

Wired headphones come a close second 🎧. In her words, she's "not to be trusted with wireless."

A high-protein yoghurt bowl, coconut and honey included, rounds things out 🍯. It "sets me up to win the day," she says.

What are your essentials? The things always on your desk?

A fantastic afternoon at the @icb_bookkeepers Raising the Standard event in London representing the @universityofchichester

It was great to hear about ICB’s 30 year history and its exciting plans for the future including new AI tools, university accreditations, and upcoming developments to its qualification

The event was a wonderful opportunity to bring the profession together and I look forward to building even stronger ties with the @uocbusinessschool & the ICB to help create career pathways into bookkeeping and support students who aspire to start their own business

Thank you to Ami Copeland, Elizabeth Carter C.ICB, and the entire ICB team for the invitation and for hosting such an enjoyable event. It was great to catch up with colleagues from across the industry

There are exactly 4 types of accounting professional desks in the world…

A. The "Messy but I know where everything is"
B. The "Minimalist Zen Master"
C. The "I'm secretly working from a beach"
D. The "Tech Command Centre"

Which one are you? and who do you think these desks belong to? 👇

EmpowerHer wasn’t just an event.

It was a shift in confidence. 💬

Here’s what the women in the room had to say:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I left feeling better about my finances. That was my intention.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “The best is yet to come. The organiser should be SO proud.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I came all the way from Derby and it was worth every penny.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Everyone left on a high. Everyone left with a plan of action.”
70 women. A perfect 5/5 rating. And a community that is 1000% stronger than last year.
This is what happens when women come together with intention. 💸👑
