Reams of Fashion *work in progress* begins with a visual and conceptual overlay of two material processes: shoddy— the shredding of unworn garments into fibre for insulation, stuffing and blankets — and rag paper, historically used in the production of paper currency, in which cotton and linen textiles are shredded and pulped to produce paper.

Making ways to expose the different systems through which clothing is understood and valued by superimposing one layer, dataset, or structure onto another; to compare, combine, or enhance information.

Botanical Printing Workshop

An in-depth exploration of natural colour through madder, cochineal, rose, turmeric and other pigments, where you spend an afternoon designing and naturally dyeing a silk scarf to take home with you

Have you got fabric scraps or other damaged/unusable textiles you don’t know what to do with? We’re SO excited to be launching our first ever customer textile recycling project today with @fibrelab ✨

Sign up to send us your textile waste and Fibre Lab (who are close to us in Hackney) will recycle it into a zero waste 40 x 40cm cushion pad for you. They have machines that shred the fibres down to create a plush, soft filling then use damaged hotel sheets to make the outer cover. The finished cushions feel weighty and lux and are such a special item to own.

We’re currently taking bookings for the first recycling run of 50kg of waste. We have limited spots available for this first run and you do NOT need to have your scraps ready to sign up. We recommend signing up now to secure your place then just make sure you send us your scraps by the middle of November. Each person needs to send us 700g of fabric waste, and it can be made up of any fibres. We’ll send lots more details to everyone who signs up!

WASTED FASHION, a new creative and social impact program working with waste pickers in Dandora.

This program is built on the belief that waste is not useless and that the waste pickers working with it every day deserve dignity, visibility, and opportunities to grow. Through this initiative, they use recycled waste materials to create baskets, bags, earrings, necklaces, costumes, and other handmade fashion pieces that reflect creativity, resilience, and transformation.

Through photography and storytelling, we are documenting not only the final artworks, but also the full process behind every creation — the hands, the effort, the stories, and the beauty that rises from spaces many people ignore.

WASTED FASHION is more than fashion and more than photography. It is a movement focused on empowerment, sustainability, creativity, and restoring dignity through art.

Silks in the making for @domainetrouillas

Working with waste and off cuts means every step of the process has to be material-led. Here’s a glimpse into what that process looks like 👀

Working with @yodomo.co we assessed, measured and cataloged every piece of silk sourced from the highest quality makers and factories. This step is essential to understand what’s in your palette

Testing waterproofing to help the silk live outdoors 🌳

Building the colour combinations that reference the earth tones on the farm and @sipsberlin wines.

After auditing all the silk pieces I could design the composition to reflect the the balance of open space and rigid lines in the barn itself - which I think is also interestingly reflected in the open spaces of the farm, combined with the graphic lines of the vines.

This design is also the most efficient use of the fabric with as few cuts as possible - just 0.5m of @pongeessilks was purchased to add the final flash of colour.

1000m of thread later … massive thank you to @fibrelab for lending us their space to create these giant pieces.

And any scraps we had in the making have also gone to Fibre Lab to be recycled into paper 💌
