The Zurich HB SZU platforms 21 and 22, welcome approximately 40,000 people every day, making it one of the busiest stations in the ZVV area. With increasing passenger numbers forecast for the future, the age of the platforms, and a need to conform to new standards, SZU has decided to expand and modernize their line.

Fos us, this meant the track closure was only possible after 01:00, and everything needed to be cleared by 04:30. In that short time, the Amberg Infra 7D team captured:

· 3 km of railway and tunnel with the Amberg Technologies IMS5000
· Two stations (Zurich HB & Selnau)
· Two separate areas with the Riegl VZ600i
· Photogrammetry to texturize the pointcloud.

Three different acquisition methods, one short night shift!

A thank you to Daniel, Simona, and Amar for delivering fast, accurate, and reliable results under challenging (the grease on the tracks was intense on this job) conditions!

RESTORE IT OR KEEP THE PATINA? 😅⬇️

This is truly one of the ultimate masterpieces for Fiat 600 enthusiasts, let aside its rarity, i think it takes the 600 to another level, and this colors truly brings out all those splendin curves.

“Cat posts usually do great” I thought.

So I was pretty happy to see our furry friend cross the tracks when I took this photo - as always, surveying on the railway brings curious scenes!

While most people sleep, we’re covering kilometres of rail networks, ensuring the safety and accuracy of the railway network and infrastructure.
The best part? With a single pass, the Amberg Technologies IMS5000 system can acquire a complete railway health overview:

- Infrastructure Inspection
- Track geometry measurement
- High-resolution 3D pointcloud
Combined, the data acquired gives endless deliverables for our clients.

We love putting solutions together for our clients, so reach out if you’d like to learn more.
