Back in March, I attended the Life After Loss Conference at BYU with some of the incredible mums I’ve met since losing Abi.

I dropped the ball on sharing about it in the spring. I pulled back from posting so I could be more present. So here I am, playing a bit of catch-up.

This conference was so meaningful. I learned so much about grief — not just from an educational perspective, but from a spiritual one too. It was fascinating to hear things that resonated deeply… and others that haven’t been part of my experience (at least not yet).

There was something so healing and uplifting about being surrounded by tender hearts — each of us carrying our own loss, yet finding strength together. This is a really special group of people 🫶

We met up with some mums we’d connected with online. I wish we’d taken more photos, but we were so focused on being present and just being together.

And one little detail that felt like a tender mercy: the apartment complex we booked was called Carson’s Corner — which did not feel like a coincidence at all @goodmedicine.journey 🥹✨

I loved hearing from each of the speakers — their stories, insights, and expertise Here are just a few things that stuck with me:

💛 Faith and confusion can coexist.

I really resonated with something @jenedypaige shared — how she once felt so happy and blessed by the gospel, and then after loss, felt confused… even a little betrayed, having tried to live her life right from a young age.

When she said that, I felt it deep in my chest. I remembered how, right after Abi died, I kept having vivid flashbacks of myself as a little girl — and I realized I was that little girl again: confused, hurting, and wondering how something so good could still break so completely.
