Behind this knitwear piece from my graduation collection lies a long journey of research—from structural design to selecting the perfect yarns.

Built with multiple layers, the intricate inner construction is revealed through a sheer top layer made of nylon micro-filament.

Just like the Gutai art movement, which emphasized the creative process over the final result, this piece is an homage to how things are made, not just how they look.

A special thank you to @filpuccispa for allowing me to draw inspiration from their archive, to @filatibemiva for supplying such excellent yarns, and to @maglificio_roma for bringing this knit to life.

Every fibre begins somewhere. Ours began in the Karoo and travelled to Florence through an international collaboration that reflects the true nature of the mohair value chain.

At Pitti Filati, the collection celebrated handcraft in its fullest sense - how natural fibre gains value as it moves through skilled hands, each adding knowledge, expertise, and interpretation along the way.

From farmers to spinners to designers, Softly Worn Stories is a record of this shared making. A reminder that mohair is never static, but continually shaped by the people who work with it.

Thank you to everyone who engaged with the collection and the conversations it sparked in Florence.

As always @pittimmagine filati was a great inspiration for our textile design and consultancy studio!
We met new friends @millefilispa who were showcasing really impressive textile designs by old friends @traficreativitatessile and @tessituralacolombina!
We were struck by the use of knitted yarn like paint on canvas by @cofilyarn .
Some masterful crafting through embellishment by @ongarolab and @stamperia_bertozzi.
Mesmerizing research space by @angelofigus_official and the @feeltheyarn competition.
Beloved friends who have been with us since the early days @industriaitalianafilati and friends who are turning 60 next year but look younger than ever @filpuccispa.
Special thanks to @lineapiu_italia who welcomed us and allowed us to see the garments from the @polimoda fashion show up close, but also @toddandduncan for being so generous with their time.
We excited to meet @erda.alpine an see their very chic stand and also leave the fair listing after new knitting equipment from @shimaseikiitalia and Simet Italia!
All around we had a blast and feel truly greatful to be part of this very passionate and powerful community of manufacturers and creatives!
Finished the day “in bellezza” with friends of Lottozero @at.nabi and @martinamarkovska_design!

There’s a hint of red in the air!

I love it. And I the love the colors, yarns, and textures seen at Pitti Filati.

Visiting the yarn exhibition in Florence is always inspiring.

And I also took the opportunity to visit the Rothko exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi.
