Since 2015, The Espresso Lab has been part of a remarkable journey. We became the first specialty coffee roastery from the UAE to acquire coffee through the prestigious Best of Panama auction, beginning a relationship with some of the world’s most exceptional coffees and the producers behind them. Since then, our journey has continued through Best of Panama, Cup of Excellence, and some of the world’s most respected private coffee auctions. Alhamdulillah today, the United Arab Emirates stands alongside China, Japan and South Korea, as one of the most influential markets shaping the future of specialty coffee. For me, this journey has never simply been about acquiring rare coffees. It has always been about discovering them, understanding them, respecting the people and places behind them, and ultimately, sharing them. And now, I want to take that philosophy one step further. I will personally step behind The Espresso Lab bar, across all locations, to brew and serve some of the rarest and most exceptional coffees we have acquired through auctions around the world. As an Emirati, it is a privilege to share this experience personally from the UAE, with everyone. These coffees will not be sold. They will be served with our compliments, as a gesture of hospitality from The Espresso Lab. An opportunity to experience coffees that are rarely accessible. To discover their origins, their varieties, their producers, and the extraordinary craftsmanship behind every cup. Reliving this amazing moment at Best of Panama 2025, where Panama’s finest producers and some of the world’s best cuppers gathered to celebrate exceptional coffee. It was a week filled with pressure and anticipation, but also excitement and inspiration, as we cupped and scored to honor this year’s best coffees. Alhamdulillah this year’s Best of Panama was a beautiful celebration of passion, dedication, and community. After three years as a guest cupper, @Almallouhi had the honor of serving as an international judge, a proud milestone for The Espresso Lab. We were also delighted to have @HelloItsFajar join the cupping table, continuing our journey of learning and connection. The Best of Panama is one of the most prestigious coffee competitions in the world, bringing together exceptional producers, passionate cuppers, and a shared love for quality. We extend our warmest congratulations to all the producers of Panama for their inspiring dedication, and a heartfelt applause to Hacienda La Esmeralda for achieving first place across all categories: washed, natural, and varietal. This year, we are excited to participate in the auctions of Hacienda La Esmeralda, Lamastus Family Estates, and for the first time, Longboard Coffee. Alhamdulillah — what a journey it has been. Ten years ago, The Espresso Lab was just a vision — rooted in passion, purpose, and a deep love for coffee. A love first inspired by my grandmother, whose rituals around coffee sparked something profound within me. Today, we stand proud as a homegrown brand that helped pioneer specialty coffee in the United Arab Emirates. From opening our first Coffee House in Dubai, to launching our roastery, expanding to Abu Dhabi, and continuing to grow year after year — it has been a journey of grit, growth, and gratitude. Finca Rasha, our very first farm, marked the beginning of our dedication to traceability and excellence at origin. Every visit we make to origin is intentional — not only to source the world’s best coffees, but to collaborate meaningfully, build lasting trust, and strengthen our relationships with the producers who make this journey possible. We’ve also proudly bid in some of the world’s most prestigious auctions — including the Best of Panama and Producer Exclusive auctions — to bring exceptional lots home to the United Arab Emirates, offering our patrons rare and refined coffee experiences. Over the years, we’ve had the honour of representing the United Arab Emirates on the world stage, winning multiple National Championships. I’m humbled to have served as the first Emirati international judge for the Best of Panama — a responsibility I carry with pride. To my beloved Dr. Rasha — your unwavering support means the world to me. To my mother — thank you for shaping me and inspiring me to always pursue excellence. In 2021, conversations about establishing a coffee farm began. By 2023, Finca Rasha came to fruition—founded by Ibrahim Almallouhi, the visionary behind The Espresso Lab—as a bold step toward deepening the understanding of coffee at its origin. Located in the heart of coffee-producing land, Finca Rasha represents more than cultivation; it is a place of learning, connection, and purpose. Named after Dr. Rasha, Ibrahim’s beloved wife, the farm stands as a tribute to the spirit of collaboration and dedication that fuels The Espresso Lab. Finca Rasha was born from a desire to bridge the gap between producers, roasters, and consumers. It is an initiative to step into the shoes of the producer—to gain firsthand experience in cultivation, processing, and the daily challenges and triumphs that shape every cup. By engaging directly in farm-level work, The Espresso Lab aims to cultivate not only coffee, but also empathy, respect, and transparency across the supply chain. Now in year three, Finca Rasha continues to be a field of discovery and a long-term commitment to craft, traceability, and shared progress—an embodiment of The Espresso Lab’s belief that the future of coffee is rooted in meaningful relationships. Alhamdulillah my journey is driven by dedication, precision, and an unrelenting pursuit of excellence. I believe in being hands-on, staying deeply involved in every aspect of the business—from sourcing the finest coffees to ensuring every cup reflects our commitment to quality. This month, I’m heading to Panama to connect with our incredible producing partners and explore the work of our Colombian partners in the region. Visiting origin is essential to me; understanding the craft, passion, and challenges behind each coffee allows us to honor the hard work of farmers and bring the best to our customers. Following this, I will travel to Houston to attend the Specialty Coffee Expo, a key event where industry leaders gather to exchange insights, explore emerging trends, and engage in discussions that shape the future of specialty coffee. This experience provides an opportunity to refine our approach, adopt the latest advancements, and ensure The Espresso Lab remains at the forefront of the industry. I am deeply grateful for everyone who shares this journey with me.
