@prhaudio and narrator @finkeboutit Alex Finke did a beautiful job on the We Fell Apart audiobook (sound on!). If you’ve read it, I thought you’d like to see the indigo inspiration. My family has several times done indigo dying at @nativeearthteachingfarm and it is an incredible community art experience.

Anyway, @getunderlined would like me to remind you that the book is out in paperback now.

WE FELL APART is set in the We Were Liars universe. You read WWL first ideally, but then you can read the other two in any order.

I wonder sometimes if other people see the I Capture the Castle reference?

Clio Louise Barnes leads a picture-perfect life as a stylist and influencer, but beneath the glossy veneer she harbors a not-so glamorous secret: she grew up in a haunted house. Well, not haunted. Possessed. After Clio’s parents’ messy divorce, her mother, Alex, moved Clio and her sisters into a house occupied by a demon. Or so Alex claimed. That’s not what Clio’s sisters remember or what the courts determined when they stripped her of custody after she went off the deep end. But Alex was insistent; she even wrote a book about her experience in the house.

After Alex’s sudden death, the supposedly possessed house passes to Clio and her sisters. Where her sisters see childhood trauma, Clio sees an opportunity for house flipping content. Only, as the home makeover process begins, Clio discovers there might be some truth to her mother’s claims. As memories resurface and Clio finally reads her mother’s book, a sinister presence in the house manifests, revealing ugly truths that threaten to shake Clio’s beautiful life to its very foundation.

In Clay closes this Sunday 10/11 at @City_Theatre. One woman, one potter's wheel, and the forgotten French ceramicist Marie-Berthe Cazin finally getting her due.

@finkeboutit is throwing pure magic up there. Catch her before the wheel stops spinning.

I can honestly say this is one of the best musical experiences I’ve had. The show, the acting, and the musicianship are all incredible. Being a part of this band - and literally sharing the stage with them - is an honor I can’t put it into words. I’m just so grateful to be a part of this.

For no reason whatsoever 😏 I decided to share some of my favorite female narrators or narrators that record female character voices.

We need to uplift these amazing narrators as much as their male colleagues because they are SO talented!!

Go find someone new to add to your list!

#audiobooks #narrators

When I hear Saskia narrate a horror or a thriller I swear the goosebumps are just inevitable. You Did Nothing Wrong is SO perfect you must listen to it! One of my favorite narrators for anything creepy!

Alex Finke is one of those narrators you feel like must be exhausted after a day in the booth. She emotes so beautifully that I just FEEL so much from her performance. Promise Me Sunshine destroyed me in part because of how she brought grief to life.

Eloise Thomson narrates this stunning duet and her voice brings Ophelia to life in a tangible way that really pulled me in. Loved her narration!

Kristen DiMercurio has narrated several of my favorite sapphic romances and my god, her narrating Vanessa’s parts in Atmosphere just brought it all together for me. She is SO good.

Jaclyn Kelso has one of those sexy gritty voices that lend itself so well to FMCs that have an edge. If you haven’t listened to The Wicked or Loving the Wicked she’s just so good!!

Stella Hunter has narrated hundreds of books and she’s a pro. I absolutely loved her narration of Whit in At Whit’s End and Lilia in Nocticadia. So different but what a range!

Kristin Atheron is new to me and holy crap she’s SO good. Holding up a fantasy novel has to be so hard but her performance in The Wretched Divine just has me gobsmacked. Absolutely insane performance!

Thank you @prhaudio for filling my summer with so many amazing audiobooks. #gifted #prhaudiopartner I’ve been feeling super blessed.

What are we listening to this weekend?! I think I’m going to start The Pirate Queen.

Pride Comes Before a Fall by @virginiaheathwrites is an opposites-attract marriage of convenience rom-com featuring a duke and a social reformer. The narrators of this dual POV audiobook, @evafeiler and @shaneeastreads, were amazing. Shane East can hang out in my headphones pretty much any day of the week, ngl. I loved the way Heath handles their differences in class. This whole series has just been so fun. If you love historicals, def put this on your list.

Fossil Feud by @maggienorthauthor is for anyone who loved Jurassic Park as a kid. Ripley, a disgraced paleontologist, has just found an incredibly rare dinosaur-bird link on a dig in Montana. James Smithson, an Oxford professor, shows up unexpectedly, with news that Ripley’s ex is about to publish a paper with a similar find, but James is convinced it’s a hoax. She reluctantly agrees to help him prove his hypothesis, & their forced proximity leads to more than academic collaboration. The narrator Mia Hutchinson-Shaw is FABULOUS, alternating between American, British, & even Australian accents with aplomb. I loved how the story wrestles with how women are treated in academia, especially within the sciences, but Ripley is fighting the good fight. (& I loved that James was a secret artist!)

If Books Could Kill by @kateeberleauthor almost defies categorization. It’s part rom-com, part thriller, part magical realism. Roxie makes a wish to be the main character in her favorite author’s next book, but instead of the romance she expects, she finds herself in a thriller, in a race to stay alive. @finkeboutit, one of my favorite narrators, knocks this audiobook out of the park. She is absolutely perfect as Roxie as she stumbles & bumbles her way through danger after danger & into a little thing called love. There’s just the right amount of self-aware tongue-in-cheek humor to balance out the odd premise & come off perfectly charming instead of weird. It was so much fun from beginning to end.

I went into the woods😍, then out of the woods🥲 with this group of GEMS.

It's hard to put into words how much this group of people and this experience meant to me. It was a gift to get to know every one of you and watch you in your element. I'm missing you all so much already.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💫/🌶️ Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone

Reread: still 6⭐

Original review:

I picked this book up because I lost my Gramma last month, and I wanted a book with an FMC dealing with grief, and I had no idea this book was exactly what I needed. It is absolutely everything. It's sad, but also hilarious and beautiful and heartbreaking, and just... Everything. I listened to this audiobook, and Alex Finke was absolutely phenomenal. She really captured the FMC so perfectly. I could easily listen to it again and again.
