5 whole months of Niko Ray! And now, a word from the little man himself. We’ve been busy this month! I went and watched Auntie @veronica.a.crane play at regionals and state volleyball (peep the shirt). Then mom had her birthday so I got all dressed up and brought her flowers. I’ve been very smiley and I’m learning to blow bubbles. Oh! And I LOVE watching football and Wild Kratts… well any sports really. Volleyball, hockey, football. All of it. Mom and dad bought be my first hat because I keep wanting to take dads and might I say, I look good! Then to cap off the month, I got to try these yellow things called bananas and they are AMAZING!!! Best thing I’ve had since titty milk… also the only thing I’ve had since titty milk. I hear there’s this guy named Santa that I get to meet this month and then he’s going to come to my house and leave me presents so that sounds fun! Oh and I almost forgot! We’re moving this week! Mom and dad said I get a bigger room and that I will get to hang out in the garage with dad… whatever that means. Anyways, this instabook thing is a lot of work so bye! Dad says he’ll do a First Mate Log tomorrow since he’s at work today.

Happy birthday honey. This time last year we had just barely found out about Niko. Now he’s 4 months old and you’ve become a MILF. (She’s going to hate me for saying that) From 27 to 28, there were a lot of changes but you handled ✨most✨ of them gracefully. Haha now you’re pushing 30 but you’re still hot as ever. I hope you have an amazing day. Sorry there’s no surprise Disneyland trip this year. There’s other things in the works though. Niko and I love you!

Thank you @screamingflamingoph for capturing our family and all of our weirdness. I love that we were able to get pictures with all of Niko’s grandparents and a couple great grandparents. The picture of Niko, Pop, and me is really special because him and I have always been super close. When Shyanne and I found out we were pregnant with Niko, she immediately suggested that his middle name be Ray after Pop and I can’t think of a better way to honor the man that’s always been there for me. Thanks again @screamingflamingoph for these pictures.

Niko is already 6 weeks old! We got our pictures back from @brittneyrayphotography a few days ago and couldn’t be happier! She perfectly captured our growing family. I especially love the picture with Niko in the cradle. When I was born, my grandpa made the cradle for me and the quilt inside was sewn by his mom, Grandma Elsie, while she was in the hospital. The quilt wound up being the last one she made before passing, just a few months before I was born. I’m happy to be able to pass on these heirlooms on to Niko in hopes that one day they will go to his kid.

1 month already?? It seems like just yesterday we were bringing Niko home, but at the same time it feels like he’s always been here. He’s quite the growing boy and is already growing out of most of his 0-3 month clothes. He’s already been to his first motorcycle rally (Shoutout to Salute to Vets) and got patches on his first vest. We gotta start him young if he’s going to grow up to be a bearded biker like his dad. Sleeping is getting better which his mom appreciates, especially on days I work. But as you can see in the last picture, he’s very particular about his pacifier placement.

2023. The year of adventure. We started the year off with Shyanne being diagnosed with endometriosis and being told we very likely couldn’t have children without medical intervention. We accepted this and decided to really embrace being the fun aunt and uncle that are always on adventures. So in April, we went to Disneyland with Cristin, Kyle, and Sadie for the weekend. Over the summer I rode over 7,200 miles on my motorcycle including participating in Alaska 22-Hundred ride with Kyle and Danté. We of course attended the Salute to Vets rally and then in September we flew to Oregon for Teagan and Porter’s wedding. While there, Shyanne convinced me she needed a new car so, as you’ll remember from the Captain’s Logs, we drove it back only to fly back to Oregon 5 days later to go to the Pendleton Round-Up. Fast forward to November and we flew to Florida where we went to Disney World (of course), played with sloths and capybaras, swam with manatees (despite me panicking), and went on a cruise to Haiti, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. Then to top off the year, just 3 days before we left for Florida, we found out that the Captain’s Logs official crew is growing by a baby boy next July. While we still plan to be the fun aunt and uncle that are always traveling and exploring, we’ll also get to be the parents that show their son the world. Here’s to the last year of being childless and to the future of being the best parents we can be.

It’s Finn’s birthday! 6 years with this crazy pupper. He still loves road trips, camping, everything motorcycle, and hanging out with his parents. The only thing that’s changed is a little more gray. Happy birthday Finny Pup.
