Waiting until you feel motivated is a really good way to stay exactly where you are.

STUCK.

Remember that lesson in science…”An object in motion, remains in motion. An object at rest, tends to remain at rest.”

Keep going!

Make the walk part of your day. Everyday.

Shoes on. Out the door.

Some walks will feel amazing. Some will just get done.

Both count, boo. 😉👟

The walk is never just the walk.

It’s time together. To talk, laugh, catch up and get outside without needing to make some crazy elaborate plan.

I love a good dinner date, but there’s something about walking side by side that makes conversation flow differently.

And, as a bonus, if you need to have a hard discussion, there’s so much space for your words…to just float up and away. 😆🙌🏽

Plus, we get our steps in. 👟

It’s a win win!!

Consider this your reminder that quality time doesn’t have to be complicated.

Grab your person and go for a walk. ❤️

September 3rd.

Thank you for being born.

It’s peculiar how destiny danced around seemingly inevitable chance encounters in a city of proximity, until @kenda11foster said, “Let’s stop by my friend’s studio,” as we walked along 4th Avenue at the street fair.

Thank you for being born.

Funny how serendipity conspired, over and over again, for us to cross paths until every freckle on your face became familiar.

Thank you for being born.

It’s still a wonder how I thought about you while sitting on the beach in San Diego. I sent you a picture of the ocean. You jokingly asked me to bring you back some sand and water. A week later, I was at your house with both in a bottle.

Thank you for being born.

Phone conversations like clockwork. Walks in the wee hours of the morning.

I wasn’t looking for a relationship. Neither were you. We were both coming off seven years of being single. You were my friend first.

Thank you for being born.

Sitting on the floor, face to face: “I choose you.”

Offered in unison.

Thank you for being born.

You jumped on a 19-hour flight with me to Egypt. We danced on Venice Beach in LA. We immersed ourselves in the vortexes of Sedona.

Thank you for being born.

I’ve grown so much with you in my life. You’ve taught me that love means nothing unless you can be loving toward someone on the daily. You do it with ease and elegance.

You’re my winning lottery ticket.

Thank you for being born.

September 3rd is reserved for @fiona.fenix .

Part 3 of The Backcourt Documentary Premiere at The Loft Cinema photo collective by @kathleendreierphoto .

Fiona.

5 years ago when I embarked upon this journey with my pen/pencil/keyboard, I took inventory of myself.

I knew how obsessive I'd be. Burnouts were inevitable. Fierce competiveness. Sleepless nights from indefatigable drive. The gift and curse that follows answering your calling.

I wasn't going to have just anyone with me. I'm comfortable being a maverick because support follows me like the Verizon man, but if I was to have a partner, it would be intentional.

Met her and became fast friends within the artist/creative community. When we became a unit, I explained how serious I was about my mission. She told me she was a mother first. It became perfect alignment. I show up for her in her world, she does the same in mine. She balances me and holds space like no other. I'm indispensable to her needs.

I read where Ryan Coogler's wife bought him a computer when he was broke and beginning his career. My first birthday I was with Fiona, she did the same for me.

Right when the documentary ended and people flooded me on stage, I saw her run straight to the lobby to handle the book sales. Smiling, I knew that was an example of why she's been one of the best things to happen to me. She gets it, so she gets me🐜🖤

Do my nipples offend you?
is really asking something else
why discomfort always gets to vote
on what other people wear or don't wear,
what other people are.
The outrage is never about the flesh.
It's about who gets to decide
what flesh means.
A chest is just a chest
until someone needs it to be
a symbol, a sin, a scandal,
a thing requiring permission slips
signed by MEN who've never
had to ask.
She already answered her own question.
The problem was never her body.
It's the math
how comfort gets confused with virtue,
how I don't like it becomes
you shouldn't.
Nobody drafts a law
for what offends the eye looking.
Just for what the eye
refuses to stop staring at.

She walks toward her
like sunrise toward the earth
steady, sure, full of light.

No need for words,
no need to ask.
One look, and they ask,
you good?
I'm here.

Their arms are temples,
built for shelter,
for holding what’s too heavy alone.

This isn’t just a hug.
It’s energy.
It’s healing.
It’s every soft moment
they were told to be hard.

Two sistas,
meeting in the middle
not to fix,
but to feel.
Not to save,
but to say:
We got each other.
Always.

- Some photos of my portfolio.
There is honestly no better feeling than having a print in your hands. I love my darkroom printing, my inkjet printing, alternative printing; anything to actually use my hands and mind. This is what posting lacks. When I set up my 8x10 camera, I don’t think about how the image will look on a small screen. Or hoping the image can bring a lot of likes from random people.
Highly recommend logging off of here and actually creating some art. -

A few more gorgeous pics from our lovely photographer friend @lancethorn from years ago. This was such a magical shoot with @fiona.fenix ✨

She is pictured here wearing our Sally Bodysuit in Golden Dot Mesh. Sadly, we’ve had to discontinue this particular fabric and we only have a few pieces left. 😭 The good news is that we’ve lowered the price on these last remaining pieces so snatch them up while you can!!
Shop via the link in bio before they are all gone 🔗💛
