There’s a new landmark in the MAC yapang Sculpture Park!

High Tide by Fiona Lee and Aaron Crowe is a four-metre-tall sculptural buoy that draws on Lake Macquarie’s maritime heritage and explores rising water levels.

Create on Country is coming - a gathering of art, activism and community to protect Gomeroi Country and the endangered Swift Parrot from the proposed Maules Creek coal mine expansion.

23-25 October 2026, Maules Creek Hall NSW. We’re reactivating the decade-long Leard Forest pushback and officially launching the Giant Swiftie before she flies across the Liverpool Plains and into Sydney.

Last week, Women's Agenda recognised Fiona Lee among the women leading climate action in Australia.
We are proud to have Fiona as one of our survivor advocates. She is an inspiration to so many - as an artist, parent, and community member.

Fiona lost her home in the Black Summer bushfires, and since then, she's been speaking up about her experience to media, in parliament, in courts, and through her incredible art.

“We desperately need leadership that’s honest about where we’re at. When authorities ignore climate science and keep approving new mines, the impact is deeply human” - Fiona Lee speaking to Women's Agenda.

Look, we understand that a triptych isn’t for everyone, but this briefing on HVO Continuation is really, rather important. We’ve done you a TLDR (Watch ) version. Just a minute. Is 800 million downstream emissions in a climate crisis all that bad, it’s only another 20 years of coal? We’ve told the devoted employees that it’s jobs for the next generation…it’s a stretch but everyone knows that 20 years to develop an exit strategy is so unreasonable when you’re focused on extraction and shareholder profit. NSW are already failing to meet their emission target, so might as well go hard and burn the whole world down. Do, do write in support, deadline midnight Wednesday.

From a timber mill on Biripi Country to Cementa26 in Kandos, Fiona Lee’s practice arrives with urgency, dissent and deep attention to place.

We’re thrilled to welcome Fiona Lee @fiona_m_lee to Cementa26.

Fiona is an installation artist whose practice is inseparable from political dissent and climate activism. She lives on the edge of the Great Dividing Range In Elands, NSW, on Biripi Country, and works from a ramshackle old timber mill.

Working across sculpture, video, sound and expanded photomedia, Fiona’s installations often respond to places shaped by industry and climate change. Her practice questions and pushes back against the systems that have transformed these post-natural environments.

See her work as part of Cementa26, curated by Sebastian Henry-Jones @turbochargedseb, 17–20 September 2026 in Kandos.

This morning, outside Branxton Community Hall, families, farmers, and climate-impacted communities gathered before the Independent Planning Commission's public hearing for the Hunter Valley Operations coal expansion - the largest coal mine ever proposed in NSW.

This project would lock in 800 million tonnes of climate pollution beside the Hunter River. Seven times NSW's entire annual emissions. Rising costs, rising risks, and a bill every person in NSW will have to bear.

Thanks to everyone who came on the weekend to the tool introductory course foundations, where we made a SWING, for the community or your home, and to Deua for leading his own project and getting us all involved! We had a lot of fun.

Climate change is a justice issue, and the arts sector has a responsibility to respond with systemic change. That starts with examining our funding, structures and platforms, and centring First Nations leadership every step of the way.

There’s still time to walk through the final weekend of @bobbrownfoundation Art for Takayna collaborative exhibition at Long Gallery in Nipaluna/Hobart! Every year features beautiful work by artists from all around Australia showcasing their work from their time on BBF’s annual artist residency in Takayna/Tarkine. One of my pieces, Regeneration, is on display this year. Some work by artists in our small remote/roaming group features too. These images through the gallery I managed to capture on the one free day after the opening we had to check it out when it was a bit quieter.
