Why do we keep coming back to the mat? The answer changes. Sometimes it’s because our body feels tight after a long week. Sometimes it’s because our mind has been carrying too much. Sometimes we come looking for a challenge. Sometimes we come simply because we miss how we feel afterwards. Maybe that’s why yoga stays with us. It grows with us. At Root, we see people arriving with completely different reasons. Some are stepping onto a yoga mat for the very first time. Others have been practising for years and come to deepen their practice. Some are looking for a gentle class. Others leave smiling after a stronger, more dynamic flow. There isn’t one way to practise yoga. Just as there isn’t one reason to come. Wherever you are in your journey, we hope you can find a class and a pace that feels right for you. So we’re curious… What brings you back to your mat? Or, if you’ve been thinking about trying yoga… What’s the one thing that’s been stopping you? We’d love to hear your story. 🤎 #rootstudiodn #yogadaily #yogadanang #helthylife

Firefly broke her spine due to a mishap, resulting in a helicopter ride. Despite the burst fracture, the spinal cord remained unharmed, and she's signed up for a half marathon. #hikertrash #hikertrashradio #spinalhealth #recoveryjourney #marathontraining #SanDiegoMarathon #fitnessgoals #nevergiveup

Today is day 52 of the border to border calendar year triple crown, and day 3 on the AT! Monarch picked us up early and brought us to Woody Gap where we got off the other day. I barely bundled up because we had a lot of climbing to do. But it was freezing until I warmed up! Then on any flat sections of trail I was uncomfortably cold. The climbing kept me toasty though. We climbed up and over Blood Mountain and then got to Neels Gap. There is a small outfitter and a hostel there. A hiker named Firefly actually sent us a resupply box so I picked that up. It was loaded with delicious snacks, candy, and ramen! Then we kept on hiking and went for another 8 or so miles. When we got to the next road there was a trail magic set up! So we took a break to indulge in hot chocolate and cheeseburgers. What a nice surprise! We were 18 miles in at this point with about 12 to go. The rest of the day there were a handful of climbs, but nothing too long or rough. By 6pm we had gone about 30 miles with over 7,500 feet of gain! Another solid day. We set up our tents by Blue Mountain Shelter because it was full. Then I made a nice hot dinner before doing some writing and editing, and eventually calling it a night. #at #pct #cdt #cytc #thetrek #thruhike #thruhiking #hiking #backpacking #appalachiantrail #pacificcresttrail #continentaldividetrail #ft #floridatrail #pinhoti #pinhotitrail #canada #nationalparks #calendaryeartriplecrown

giving the people what they didn’t know they wanted… part ll. As I’m finding out more about the devastation Hurricane Helene has had on the trail, my heart goes out to the people still on it and those who had to end their trail early. Keeping everyone affected in my thoughts. Here is my last goodbye to some of the beautiful trail memories I’ve shared and will cherish for many years to come.
