August 6th 2024 - 150 days - finally done. What a journey and adventure!!! I am so grateful for all the people I met - the friends I made and the trail magic and support from total strangers I received. My faith in humanity has grown again having experienced such amazing acts from people who don’t know me but go out of their ways to help me and other hikers on trail. I started my adventure March 10th and finished my Thru hike of the AT and also my triple crown on Katahdin August 6th. Many moments of joy, happiness but also pain and frustration paved the path to this finale. Many times I wanted to stop and give up as I felt I had enough of being wet and itchy and sticky from the dirt and sweaty nasty bugs of all sizes ate me alive, feeling tired and exhausted. My body needs to heal and recover now from all those bites, many falls and long miles that tired me out physically and mentally. I am exited for a shower and fresh clothes to wear. But the nice days made up for all the dark and hard days we all went through. My tent leaked water from the top and the bottom no matter the ways I tried to sew or fix it . Some days I woke up in a pool of water. But I guess that’s the sort of experience and pain we go through that teaches us lessons and challenges us not give up no matter how hard it can be. I am glad I made it. Big shout out to all the lovely hikertrash I met out there and shared my walks. Friend for life! Off to new adventures now - I can’t wait taken in Mt. CDT 2023 - April 13th - September 14th. What a journey. In 2020 I spontaneously joined a friend on the PCT round mile 100 for a couple days - as Covid hit and my job/project at that time wasn’t continued I decided to just keep walking not planning on anything other then keep walking for a bit longer. I realized the day I joined that I actually never backpacked before 😂. I ended up walking to Canada and returning to mile 100 to sobo back to the boarder in the end. I made many new lifelong friends and those got me also spontaneously onto the CDT this year. Through hiking came to me at times I really needed it. Being out in nature and pushing my limits - it’s healing aspects of stepping aside from your life to evaluate and find a new Re-entry or new start. It supported my inner growth and believe in myself. It helped me with my mental health to calm and recenter. I hope that I could inspire to come out and walk a little, to take time for yourself and tap out of the system for a bit to find yourself again in this busy fast paced world. #bravethecdt #cdtcoalition #cdtclassof2023 #cdt2023 #throughhiking #montana #glaciernationalpark #backpackinglife #adventure #explore #pushyourboundaries #nature #naturelovers #natgeotravelpic #photography #faroutguides @faroutguides #faroutguides #faroutmagazine #faroutguide #guthook #farout #sawyerproducts #sawyer @sawyerproducts #backpacking @hyperlite_mountain_gear taken in Continental Divide Trail by @firefly_adventuring

Making my way from the high Tibetian plateau of 16000 ft back towards lower elevation and further onwards into the Sichuan province - I stopped over in the city of Chengdu to check out the biggest Panda preserve and made my way onwards towards the famous hanging mountains also called Avatar mountains . An unreal experience . #hikingchina #backpackingasia #backpacking #chinanature #adventuring by @firefly_adventuring

After traveling through the Tibetan Plateau we made it to our hiking start for the holy Mount Kailash Kora. It starts at 16500ft and u go over a pass in the first 25km up to 18600 ft . We attempted this with no oxygen support as we acclimatized the last 5 days on the plateau and spending a night on Mount Everest Basecamp at 17400ft (still with slight headaches and gasps of air waking up - sleeping was by far the hardest 😆)
We started the Kora walking out of Darchen at 16500ft and made it to our first Place for the night after 7hours climbing and walking very slow at 17600 ft . It was a basic place with room that were just filled with beds like a hostel. (The shared bathroom - one hole in the ground filled to the brim with poop - situation I leave to ur imagination as it was the wildest and worst I have ever encountered in my life ) . We slept with all our clothes on that night as the beds we not the cleanest ( and as hikertrash o don’t care normally but that one was special) . We got up at 4:45 am to start the climb over dolma pass. The air was so crisp u could cut with a knife . The stars were so bright i had never seen before . It was so cold that I couldn’t feel my body but i was distracted with breathing and getting enough air climbing now from 17600 up towards 18600 ft . We made it to the pass at 11am . We were exhausted but happy and also grateful to have made this with no oxygen support at all and for warming up in the sun. We placed our prayer flag in honor and memory of our Cat Reeves who had passed away a couple days earlier and spent some time in silence of this magical place. Pilgrims passing us prostrating their way along the kora and we watch and cheer them on with a kind word and a smile. After a break we started to descend down the snowy steep pass. A man with a yak on our side watching us . The kora was not open for tourists a couple days prior due to heavy storms but the pilgrims all go no matter what the weather and we learned that many died . 2pm we reach the hut we were supposed to stay for our second night . We take a break and eat a soup and kept walking another 15km to darchen. Day2 /14hrs / 34km / over 18600ft. by @firefly_adventuring

Arrived in Kunming and spent 3 nights . Explored the city and also went for a hike across the massive lake on a very overgrown mountain with some temples. Had some amazing noodles and met lovely locals. We also visited the UNESCO world heritage site of the stone forest which is a rather unusual area with very unique rocks that are sharp and give the impression of a forest that turned into stone . We spent a whole day there and walked the large are in heat and humidity . I felt I was on a different planet. Then we boarded a plane to our next destination LHASA where we will start a 15 day tour through Tibet on very high elevation . Stay tuned for the next post .
