DYNO GRILL, BIRMINGHAM📍 PR/INVITE Kindly invited down by @dynogrill to try some food from their menu. Based in Sparkbrook just off Ladypool Road they offer a great range of items including Munchboxes, Burgers and Lamb Chops which are Halal. To try we were given a Munchbox which included Donner, Dynamite Chicken, Fries and salad, a Chicken Tikka Panini with Fries and a Portion of Lamb Chops. Enjoyed the Munchbox as both the Dynamite Chicken and Donner were cooked well. The Chicken had a slight kick and the Donner was thick cut and had a nice spice to it. The Fries were nice however felt that there was too many as they took up half of the box, non the less great value for money. The Chicken Tikka Panini was delicious. The Chicken was cooked well and worked well the Cheese and Peppers. The Lamb Chops were the star of the show however as they were grilled to perfection, a must try if you visit here! 3 BROS, BIRMINGHAM📍 PR/INVITE Kindly invited down by @3bros_official_ to try out some of their menu which is halal. They offer a great range of items including Munchboxes, Grilled Chicken, Burgers and Milkshakes. Opted for the 2 Munchboxes, Quarter Chicken, Wings and Strips, Rice washed down with a Taste The Rainbow Shake, a Kinder Bueno Shake. Really enjoyed both Munchboxes as they had a great selection of tasty items. They both included a Grilled Chicken Fillet Burger, 3 Grilled Wings, 2 Cheese Jalapeño bites and loaded Fries. Both the Beef loaded Fries and Chicken loaded Fries were delicious and were finished off with an array of in house sauces! A must try when visiting 🔥. Also really enjoyed the Grilled Chicken as it was juicy, flavourful and cooked to perfection. A great combo with the freshly cooked Rice! Both Milkshakes were incredible with my personal favourite being Taste The Rainbow. The perfect way to end a great munch, would highly recommend the Milkshakes from here! When life feels bittersweet, bake something chocolatey and sweet 🍫💖 Ingredients👩‍🍳 For the Cake: 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups granulated sugar 2 large eggs 1 cup whole milk 1/2 cup plain yogurt 1/2 cup vegetable oil 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup strong brewed coffee (intensifies chocolate flavor For the Ganache🍫 1 and 1/2 cups heavy cream 12 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for shine) 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) Instructions: 1. For the Cake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, milk, yogurt, oil, and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth. Stir in the brewed coffee. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay! Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. 2. For the Ganache: Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it just starts to simmer. Don’t let it boil. Remove the cream from heat and pour it over the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Stir the mixture until smooth and glossy. Add the butter and vanilla extract, if using, and stir until combined. Allow the ganache to cool for about 15-20 minutes, until it thickens but is still spreadable. 3. Assembling the Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thick layer of ganache over the top. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining ganache over the top and sides of the cake. ROCKABURGER, BIRMINGHAM📍 PR/INVITE We were kindly invited down to @loverockaburger to try some food and drinks from the menu which is halal. Based on Ladypool Road they offer a range of Burgers, Trapboxes and Bowls. We opted for the GOAT Trapbox and the Sea Food Trapbox accompanied by a Blue Lagoon and Mango Mojito! The GOAT Trapbox consisted of 3 Lamb Chops, Spicy Sindhi Rice, Slow Cooked Pull Lamb, Screaming fries and 3 fried Oreos. The Lamb Chops were delicious and cooked to perfection! We were told that they are famous for their Slow Cooked Pull Lamb and it’s not hard to see why as this again was delicious. The lamb was soft and tender, packed full of flavour and melted in your mouth. Paired alongside the Rice and Fries it worked incredibly well together. A must try!🔥 The Sea Food Trapbox included a Salmon Fillet, Spicy Sindhi Rice, 4 pieces of shrimps, Screaming Fries, 3 Fried Oreos. This Trapbox is perfect for those who don’t eat meat! The Salmon again was cooked perfectly and the Shrimp were delicious, my personal favourite. The sauces added a nice touch to both dishes. First time trying a fried Oreo and thought it was decent! Both Mocktails were ice cold, fruity and delicious. The perfect drinks to accompany the food. Thank you once again @rockaguy and @loverockaburger for inviting us down for some food! THAT KICK, BIRMINGHAM📍 PR/INVITE We were kindly invited down to @gimmethatkick who are a dark kitchen located in Aston. Specialising in Pan Asian cuisine they have a wide variety of items on their menu. We were given 2 of their Kickin Lux Meals and some Chicken Katsu Bao Buns. The first Lux Meal contained Lemak Coconut Rice and Kickin Lemon Chicken with Black Magic Sauce. The rice was cooked well and paired along with the Lemon Chicken was delicious. The box also contained sides of Coleslaw, Veg and an Egg. Again this combo worked well and was very tasty. The second Lux Meal contained Indomie Fried Noodles and Korean Beef Bulgogi. The Beef was full of flavour and the noodles were cooked to perfection. The Bao Buns were a little too thick however the Chicken Katsu was nice and tender. PIRI FINO, BIRMINGHAM📍 💷 £20.90 Always enjoy dining @pirifino and today was no exception. First time visiting the Great Barr branch and opted for the Chicken Taste Pot x2 with Pasta in Extra Hot and Lemon&Herb with added Cheese. To drink opted for a Coke and Sprite. DAFT BIRD, BIRMINGHAM📍 PR/INVITE Invited down to daftbird to try some of their menu which is halal. Based in Kings Heath they offer a wide variety of different items. The restaurant was spacious, clean and modern. We opted for the Chicken Wings in 3 different flavours which were the Nashville, the Korean and the Wild Buffalo. Also opted for the Nashville Fried Chicken pieces, Korean Rice Bowl and the Nashville Sando with Paprika Fries accompanied by some house sauces. All of the food was cooked fresh to order and okay. The Nashville Fried Chicken was crispy and juicy. The Nashville Sando was the star of show however as everything packed inside worked incredibly well together. The Fries dipped into the house sauces were delightful. The Wings were again cooked well and really enjoyed how we had 3 different flavours on them. The Korean Rice Bowl was delicious and hearty. WOK BRUVVAS, BIRMINGHAM📍 PR/INVITE We were kindly invited down to @wokbruvvas who are based on Coventry Road to try some of their menu which is halal. The restaurant boasts a beautiful, clean and modern decor. To start we opted for the Prawn Gyozas, Pulled Chicken Bao Buns and the Dynamite Prawns. The Bao Buns were cooked to perfection as they had a lovely soft texture and were packed with that succulent Pulled Chicken. The Dynamite Prawns were juicy and had a nice spicy kick 🌶️. Also really enjoyed the Prawn Gyozas and the Chilli Oil which accompanied them. For the mains we opted for the Katsu Curry, Teriyaki Pulled Beef Burger and the Nasegoreng. All of the mains were delicious, bursting with flavour and the portion sizes were very generous! The nasegoreng was exceptional 🤩. Topped off with a fried egg on top this is a must try! Also really enjoyed the Burger as it was something different from your usual burger, very nice. The Katsu Curry had a delicious rich Curry Sauce and was cooked to perfection. To round everything off we opted for the Waffle Sticks which came in Pistachio, Biscoff and Cookies and Cream. The perfect sweet treat. Everything was washed down with a Bluebay Mojito and a Pink Blossom Mocktail. Both were beautifully presented, ice cold and refreshing! Thank you once again @wokbruvvas for an extremely pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning here in the near future. MILLER AND CARTER, CANNOCK📍 💷 £79.90 Was in the mood for steak so headed down to the Cannock branch of @millerandcarter Opted for the Salt and Pepper Calamari, The Ribeye 12OZ, Pan Seared Scallops and for desert opted for the Chocolate Orange Bomb washed down with a Disaronno Blush and a Coconut and Raspberry Punch! The Salt and Pepper Calamari was cooked perfectly! This can easily be overcooked and become rubbery however this was cooked really well accompanied with an oak-smoked garlic & lemon aioli dip which was delicious 😍. The Ribeye 12OZ was again cooked to perfection and is now my new to go Steak. Opted for it medium well with Fries and Peppercorn Sauce 🥩. Don’t see many places serving Pan Seared Scallops so I had to add these on to the main course. First time trying these and again were cooked really well and were flavourful. Cooked in a delightful Lemon and Butter sauce I would get these again! The desert was a Orange Chocolate smash bomb with Belgian chocolate Mousse and a Orange Curd. Again really enjoyed this and liked how it was in the shape of an actual Orange 🍊. BIRD BOWL, BIRMINGHAM 📍 💷 £35 Heard a lot of good things about @birdbowluk and after being recommended it decided to check it out. Opted for the Original B&B Hot Burger, Dipped Chilli Burger, Garlic Parmesan Hot Wings, Signature Hot Chicken 2 piece and 5 Hot Honey Tenders. Ordered via @justeatuk and collection was straight forward from their dark kitchen based just outside the City Centre. Everything was hot and delicious and very different from other fried chicken spots I’ve tried before. My personal favourite was the Hot Honey Tenders as they remained juicy and crispy even though they were smothered in a delicious sweet and hot sauce. Also really enjoyed the Signature Hot Chicken as it was packed full of flavour with a fantastic crispy skin, cooked to perfection 😋. MERRYMAID BAR AND GRILL, BIRMINGHAM 📍 PR/INVITE Kindly invited down to @merrymaidbarandgrill to try some food and drinks from their menu. Based in Highgate they offers a variety of Mixed Grills, Curries and much more. We opted for the Merrymaid Mixed Grill Special, Lamb Biriyani, Chilli Chips and Garlic Naan. The mixed grill arrived fresh and sizzling hot and contained a variety of meats including Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Chops, Fish Pakora, Chicken Wings and Shish Kebab. This could easily be shared between 3-4 people. A very generous portion size with nice flavours. The Lamb in the biriyani was juicy and tender and was accompanied with a delicious medium/hot curry sauce making this my personal favourite! The chilli chips were also really enjoyable as the sauce they were tossed in was delicious and no to overpowering! ORICHA, BIRMINGHAM 📍 PR/INVITE Kindly invited down to @oricha_uk to try some of their drinks! Located on Corporation Street in the City Centre the shop has a good interior with a huge variety of drinks and snacks for you to choose from. We opted for the Brown Sugar Pearls Milk Tea and an Oreo Smoothie. Enjoyed both drinks as they were made fresh to order and packed full of flavour. The Brown Sugar Pearls Milk Tea had the perfect sweetness to it and worked really well with the cream in it. The Oreo Smoothie was both thick and creamy and again had the right sweetness to it.
