Monday through Thursday, 11AM to 1PM, the doors open at First Congregational Church in Cooper-Young and lunch goes out. No paperwork, no proof of anything. Anyone can eat. Their Food Justice Ministry also runs a pantry that serves 600 households, and they do it daily. Mid-South Food Bank is proud to supply a partner that shows up that consistently. Thank you @firstcongomemphis and the Food Justice Ministry crew.

Recorded live on-the-air on a Monday Morning in Memphis, MEMPHIS. This set is dedicated to FEEDING PEOPLE in the aftermath of another bad storm in Memphis. While some of the info will be dated if you listen later (specific hot meal times for August 24th), the bulk of the info is still valid as they are organizations in Memphis which are doing food ministry work EVERY DAY. (Hot meals updated for TODAY 25Aug, see additional photo.) Instead of focusing on artist tags this week, I am tagging these community orgs. Please support these organizations, and figure out how you can feed people. If you are not in Memphis, you can still send help, and/or find similar ministries in your city. Hey fam! The Midsouth Food Bank is gonna be closed for the next month so we are once again entirely dependent on community donations at the moment! Some kind person gave us all of their lightly expired bunker food, and we can't say how much we appreciate it! If you have anything sitting around that is unopened or only lightly expired please bring it by @firstcongofood to help feed your neighbors in need! If you want to donate any 💸 there is a link to donate via credit/debit in my bio or you can Venmo me at @ loafmemphis and I'll donate it on your behalf!

Friends, if you’ve been thinking about supporting our Food Justice Ministry, now would be a great time! The food bank is currently closed for inventory until July 5th, which means we won’t get our usual deliveries from them to stock our weekly Food Pantry. We could really use your help to fill that gap over the next few weeks! Please consider donating shelf-stable/non-perishable groceries or funds, if you are able (see details in the slides). Everything helps! As a reminder, our Food Justice Ministry serves a Community Lunch on Mondays through Thursdays from 11am-1pm. Our Food Pantry is open on Wednesdays from 11am-1pm. Free for whoever needs it, no questions asked. 126 folks visited our food pantry last week, and the week before it was 145. It takes a community to feed a community. Thank you for your help!!!

Made some chicken & andouille gumbo for @firstcongofood today using my patented and very stupid quick-roux technique of blasting the roux on high heat and constantly running a wide spatula through the center in a figure 8 and scraping the edges with a long spoon concurrently for 15-20 minutes until you got a deep copper roux that would take your memaw at least 45 minutes. Free to all hungry folks, no questions asked. 1000 S. Cooper, 11am to 1pm

Made some congee for Congo today! If you're not familiar it's a rice porridge common across east Asia, also occasionally called jook/juk or arroz caldo. I made a version with a bunch of hambones leftover from the Thursday holiday meal and a veggie version with dandelion greens and water chestnut. I topped em with a mix of soy sauce, 6 year aged zhenjiang vinegar, and sesame oil along with a slow poached egg and crispy fried onions. Cmon down to @firstcongofood at 1000 S Cooper from 11am to 1pm, free to all hungry folks, no questions asked!
